PetSmart — Local services in Lufkin

We go here for most things for our pets. Wal-Mart can be cheaper, but I can't get everything I need, so I usually sacrifice a little bit of price for convenience. I also find it's always best to wait for a sale and stock up on what I need until the next sale. They really don't have much competition.

The staff is friendly and personable, but they are seemingly always needing at least one more person on the floor.

While they do have an adoption center for cats, there's not one for dogs. The birds they have are nice, but I haven't seen a parrot in the cage for the parrots in a long time. They have a good selection of rodents, when they have them, and the same goes for their reptiles, when they have them. Their fish section, one that I frequent the most, is always disappointing. They have all the most popular fish, which is fine, but rarely have anything new or interesting, and if you're looking for salt water, go to Houston or order online, forget it here.

Oh, and the grooming salon. Angelina Animal Hospital has a great one that's cheaper, and you can get many more services, or Lucky Puppy on the loop is about on par for the price, has better and a greater variety of services, and you don't have to walk into the same area where the dogs are getting groomed, which keeps you away from the cloud of hair. I took my shy boy in to be groomed because I just didn’t have it in me to break my back bending over the tub to bathe him. Each employee in the salon appeared to be patient with him and understanding of his nerves and they were all so kind to me throughout the process. I am SO impressed with how well they did with the entire groom. He was perfectly dried, his nails were trimmed to perfection, his teeth??? They look amazing and his breath even smells better. I cannot say enough how pleased I was with our experience there. Additionally, it appeared as if each employee in the salon got along well with one another and that is such a beautiful thing to see in this day and age. I was thrilled with my corgi, Windsor’s, grooming experience today. I have been a customer of the grooming salon for over 2 years and have been very impressed and pleased with the care Win has received from Shaina and Allison. Today, when I needed to leave my little man with a new groomer, I hoped things would turn out as well. And they did!
