I used to be a big fan of this place. Went 1x per week at least and recommended it to others. I’ll be honest and say it’s been several months since I’ve been back because the other local options such as Lia’s Kitchen in Downtown Lufkin and Tsubaki’s nearby are better. But I figured I would give them another shot today since I had to shop nearby anyway.
Never again. I placed my order ahead of time in person, telling them “I want X, Y, and Z. I will be back in 20 minutes from shopping nearby so I’d like to have it ready when I return.” I came back where I was seated and I waited....and waited....and waited.... for a solid 7 minutes. I asked finally where my food was that I ordered earlier to the same person who took my order.
It was only then when I questioned it that I was told they did not intend to make my order until I returned, even though I paid up front.
I then asked for my money back. They did the transaction. Did not offer any credit or compensation for their mishap. Watched me walk out the door without an apology.
Never again. Trust me, the food quality is MUCH better at Lia’s Kitchen in Downtown Lufkin and the people there are MUCH more...
Read moreOne of the best sushi/Asian restaurants in the Angelina County area. The staff is always friendly and willing to help, always. I have never had a bad experience with staff. I've never waited long for my food at all, pretty much no matter what I order. I've tried a variety of things on the menu from the delicious chicken teriyaki to their special rainbow roll. While the fish could be a little bit more fresh, I still feel it is very high quality for this area, considering we are not terribly close to any high traffic fishing areas, the closest one being Galveston (3 hours away!) I would highly recommend going during Happy Hour, 3pm to 5pm every day. They have a variety of rolls and appetizers for either half price, or close to it. Great for when on a budget, or with friends. One of my favorite things to do is go with a bunch of friends, and we all order one thing, then share. If you are looking for a great Japanese place to eat while not trying to spend a whole lot, go to Sake Cafe. Great prices, great food, great atmosphere, and one of my favorite restaurants. Ever since I started going back in 2012, the service and food has remained the...
Read moreI’ve had a great experience, except once, every time I’ve gone. Going at lunch isn’t a good idea because there won’t be anywhere to sit... also they only have 2 high chairs/booster seats so you may be out of luck there.
The food is really good, I do not like the chicken used in the chicken fried rice dish, but beef fried rice is excellent.
I don’t really like the drinks so I’d suggest choosing tea and requesting a lemon... or choose water.
There is only one toilet per gender and the women’s bathroom is always clean.
There is a back eating area that almost looks like a storage area... you can request to eat back there if you want. It’s quiet and private.
The chefs greet certain people who walk in and say goodbye... they’ve never greeted or told me bye... they seem to target certain customers... I tip and pay... but I may not “look” like I need to be greeted to come back ??
Anyway... food is...
