Came to Lufkin on a business trip w/ my20 yr old son. We chose The Roost on a recommendation from the Standpipe. We ordered and All seemed well paid before the meal( novel idea). When food arrived the patty sausage looked questionable for "Done" and there was an offensive odor as it was set in front of me. We ordered the Texas Breakfast. Scrambled eggs, patty sausage and fried potatoes including 3 pancakes. My son had a tonsil flare up and could only attempt the pancakes. So He ate those. The smell of the plate lingered a sour sewer almost the smell of a dead animal. I asked for silverware from an employee busy about the dining room. She never came back. I ate my potatoes with a butter knife and even a few of the scrambled eggs. The eggs seemed to be the source of the smell. So I ask for the manager and with grace addressed my concern. She said it was their sanitizer water. That it left a smell on the dishes. WOW. I DID NOT EAT THE SAUSAGE Nor the eggs . I thought about her explanation and wondered why my silverware or my coffee cup did not have the same putrid oder. Paid 10.99 for three pancakes and a few potatoes. Left a tip when I paid at time of ordering; and as I left, regretted it. I made a bad choice this morning. But could not think about the choice of the owners or management to know they have a real concern and have yet to address it.
Lots of good reviews nice location and atmosphere. Hope you get this fixed for your on...
Read moreI visited Roost this morning, at around 9:30. I ordered the pancake combo. The eggs, sausage diced potatoes were good. I really enjoyed the fluffiness of my pancakes, but I wasn't too impressed with the flavor. It almost felt like too much flour or something. Maybe it's just not my cup of tea and that's okay. The portion size was great though. My biggest concern were for the front staff. I gave the detail of time so you can check the schedule to see who these ladies are and help them grow in customer service. The first young lady took my order, didn't smile nor did she offer to help when I explained it was my first time (i'm sure she hears that a lot due to it still being new). I honestly thought she was there alone. Number 2 came out when several orders were blocking the food window. She came out, no smile, delivered my meal with no smile and that was it. In came a 3rd young lady when they got a little busier. She was as disengaged as the other 2. She brought the food to the table next to mine. I'm not sure why all 3 were like this but none of the 3 ladies that were out and among the customers appeared to want to be there. Please help these ladies understand the importance of their jobs and how they can affect the atmosphere. If they don't want to be there, neither will the customers. This place has a lot of good things going for it. However, bad customer service will chase away customers regardless...
Read moreThis is the worst Roost we ate at. There was a disconnect somewhere. Couple next to us, husband got his food and had to wait 10 minutes before his wives food came. Half of my mom's food came, then my husband food came. By the time my sandwich ( didn't have to be cooked) my hubby was done with his sandwich. And my mom and I ordered the same thing , I got a pickle she didn't. No consistency. Boxes piled up by restroom. Restroom were filthy. Tables stayed uncleared. No one wanted to clean them. I could see everyone working. But every table orders we not made together 1 or 2 people waiting for food, while other people ate. You should complete an entire order before starting another one . Man tried to get a highchair but was broken and when he tried to switch it the other was broken also. I observed this while waiting for my mom using the restroom. Where do I...
