I would NEVER recommend any bride to use Genoâs Formal Wear in Louisville, KY for their wedding. We received terrible customer service every time we entered the building for our fittings. The policy for their tux rental is, "The tux is not guaranteed to be ready until the day BEFORE the event." This policy is much different than other local and commercial tux rental shops in Louisville, KY. I was nervous about the idea of my Husbandâs tux not being ready in time but, we liked the suit and we signed the agreement. We made sure all men who were getting suits through Geno's were fitted before April 20th (to ensure there was enough time for the suits to come in and to make alterations if needed). Fast-forward to the day before the event. Our wedding was on a Friday. Despite giving ample time for the suits to be delivered, everyoneâs suit was not ready until that Thursday (again, we understood this could be the case with their policy). When we arrived to pick up my Dadâs suit however, it had not shipped with the rest of the orders. We asked when my father's suit would be ready for pick up. The girl at the front desk nonchalantly said, "Tomorrow around 4:30." These girls actually expected us to come in, the day of the wedding at 4:30pm when the wedding started at 6:30pm. Even worse, they acted confused when we got upset! They saw NO ISSUE AT ALL with the Father of the Bride not being dressed for wedding photos and potentially being late to his own daughterâs wedding. Just so he could pick up his suit which, according to the statement we signed, was supposed to have been ready on Thursday. We found all of this out Thursday morning when we arrived to pick up the suit. I called the customer service number on their website. Customer service had no idea this had happened and could not get me an answer to why his suit wasn't in (especially with a month and a half to order it). Everyone on the phone agreed that the earliest it would arrive was Friday at 4:30 pm. I asked what they expected us to do considering the wedding was at 6:30. There were no apologies, sense of urgency or idea of what to do. I then called the store to speak to the manager but according to the employee, she was out of town for the next three weeks and could not be reached by phone or email. I then called back customer service and was lucky enough to speak with a woman who was able to put the suit on the next UPS truck delivering that day. The truck was arriving by 5:30 so we could pick up the suit at 6:00 pm. I explained to the woman that in order to pick up the suit at that time my Dad would be missing Rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Again, the woman had no good answer (seems to be a theme) except that was the best she could do. My Dad ended up missing the entire Rehearsal and some of the dinner in order to pick up the suit. Oh, and of course they made him PAY FULL PRICE for the suit! No discount or apology for ALL of the trouble and added stress. The story goes on with all of the groomsman having ill-fitting suits (even though we gave Geno's plenty of time to order the suits). We didn't trust that the suits would be in before the wedding. So we went with what they gave us so AT THE VERY LEAST they would have something to wear. Extremely disappointed with this experience and I have told all of my friends and family the terrible experience so they can spread the word so no one else will have to deal with this companies inability to help people during one of the greatest times...
Read moreI live in Louisville and our wedding is in our hometown of Indianapolis. We heard of Formal Affair because my friends Louisville wedding was using them. When I went in to get measured, my FiancÊe and I saw a particular suite that we really liked but could not source in Indianapolis. I was hesitant to source my suits out of state but the manager/owner/whoever reassured me that they have done out of state weddings and they go just fine. They have a national measuring organization so anyone anywhere can find a location and get measured, submit it through a website, and be done. Then they would ship the suits to the grooms. So we pulled the trigger.
The first issue happened when I went return my groomsmen suite for my friendâs wedding in Louisville. They said I had $100 in late fees. No one ever told me that the suit had to be returned the Monday after the wedding! They were pleasant enough to cut the fees in half. And they showed me the late fees were in the small font below where I signed⌠almost as though they did not want me to see it when I signed.
The next issue happened when I found out that to ship the suits was going to cost me extra. I had no idea when I first signed, they made it sound as though they would take care of it. I settled for paying $24 to ship to my groom in Oklahoma and I would personally deliver the rest of the suits to my groomsmen in Indianapolis to avoid the other shipping fees.
I went in to pick up the suits. Come to find out that only one groom has paid the balance. It was only fair that I could not take all the suits without them being paid. Instead of painfully watching them call each of my groomsmen to ask for their money, I decided to pay the $946.52 out of my own pocket. I asked them how my groomsmen are prompted to pay the balance. Apparently there is no prompt to pay in full!
They told me they could handle an out of state wedding....
Read moreI think the most shocking part of my whole experience was why they even measured me or any of my wedding party, parents, officiant, etc. if all the tuxes came in completely Iâll fitting anyway.
Placed the order with Genoâs in April 2018. Here we are 2 days before my wedding and they are still struggling to grasp the concept of how a tux should fit. Bow ties ordered were incorrect. Tuxes are overpriced. Nothing fit correctly the first time...or second...
Iâve been waiting to speak with a manager for 10 days. She has been âoutâ every day. Just wondering what on earth sheâs managing then, because it is not this store.
The staff are all incredibly stuck up, rude, and a complete nightmare to work with. Theyâve been horrible to me, my family, and my wedding party. Which shocks me considering there was over $3,000 spent there between us all. Youâd think a tuxedo rental business would be better at, well, tuxedo rentals.
I will never recommend Genoâs to any of my fraternity brother, friends, family, coworkers, etc. in the area.
This entire experience has added a ton of unnecessary stress on my fiancĂŠ and I.
At this point, if I could do it over, I would probably just opt to sew our tuxes from scratch because I truly think that would be less...
