Our 14-year old daughter had her birthday party here with 10 of her closest friends, and it was an absolute triumph. Michael (the host and General Manager) was super accommodating and friendly from the opening tip. We worked out tentative details and picked a date and it was all smooth from that point forth; they provided Blaze Pizza, plates, and napkins (score!) and we picked up a cookie cake from a couple doors down.
Each GameBox is essentially a small, perhaps 12x12 room with precision projectors pointed at three of the walls (there are several, and multiple groups can go simultaneously during parties). Players wear special lightweight position-tracking headsets, and the walls also double as touchscreens. The games were a blast: the groups (2x 5 kids each) each played one 30 minute followed by one 60 minute game of their choice. The specific games we experienced were The Floor is Lava (sort of a platforming/timing experience akin to older 80s-era videogames), Squid Game (which is appropriate for all ages!), and Escape AI (which, according to my daughter, was awesome, with great touch controls and interface).
I also took my 5 and 10-year-old to play Alien Aptitude, which is more or less a whimsical repackaging of 80s-era classic video games (Pong, Breakout, Maze Runner mixed with Pac-Man, and… Card Match), where in order to move, you have to move your body around the room (or tap something on the wall). This worked well even with our 5 year old, and we all had a great time.
It got pretty rowdy in there with the 14-year-old girl groups a number of times; fortunately Michael seems to be no stranger to the chaos, lol. About the only consideration is probably the size of the party room; there are seats for 12, and it would probably be a bit of a squeeze to get more than 15 humans in there. But overall, I'm not sure this could have gone much better than it did. Absolutely everyone had a great time and we will probably be back...
Read moreI took two 11 year olds and a 14 year old here and we all loved it! Played squid game, the floor is lava and the AI escape room. Nothing was so challenging that we couldn't complete. The customer service was amazing. Unfortunately the first time we visited, the mall lost power and we couldn't finish squid game or play the escape room. Right away, the manager told us the drinks we hadn't paid for yet were free. The manager told us we could come back anytime and replay squid game and play the escape room. Went back within the week because the kids were so excited. I've been telling everyone I know how awesome this place is. We can't...
Read moreWe actually ended up leaving early, we did the James bunny one. VERY boring ! We tried to switch to squid games less than 5 minutes of being in the box because it was already boring and meant for small children … although , it says 12+. The little girl working was uninterested in switching games for us even though we were the ONLY customers… I would recommend spending your money at Sandbox VR OR Topgolf , both right next door to this place. Now I’m out $135 & having to spend money elsewhere to do something...
