First impression: stood at the front where it says "wait to be seated" for almost 10 minutes before anyone said a word to us, although 2 workers grabbed something from the hostess stand. No big deal, it was a Saturday night, they were busy, I get it. Moving on, it was 74 degrees outside but 60 degrees inside...????? The waiter said someone from corporate controls the A/C. WHY??? Most of the customers were visibly shivering and clinching on to their sweaters/jackets. Even the workers were pissed. It really took away from the experience. The meat and potatoes: the food was good, our group of 8 got an assortment of dishes; nachos (steak & brisket), create your own tacos, chicken tacos, brisket tacos. No major complaints about the food aside from the "half" size portions of the dips come in a bowl that holds enough for about 6 chips. I promise you, for a $20 dare, I could fit the entire tiny bowl in my mouth at once. AND the chorizo has a sweetness to it that I couldn't decide if I was ok with, but that's just me. The bar sucks, drinks took forever to get, and my "Top Shelf" margarita (second choice, because my first wasn't available because they were out of whichever silver tequila that was advertised with it) tasted like straight tequila. 15 years ago, when I was 22, I probably would have been thrilled, but those days are behind me, and I get Top Shelf for the flavor and smoothness. I don't know....cool paintings on the interior walls and a swanky exterior and convenient location to Top Golf but smaller portions of food and higher prices, poorly made drinks, someone in another state controlling the HVAC system, and no one working there appeared to be over the age of 25 so you know how that went....poor kids, they try so hard but just don't have a clue. Anyways, I'm on the fence about giving it another shot. Hell, my wife has given me several chances to straighten up, so I guess I could try this place one more time, but I swear that A/C was enough to make me not want to come back. AND I never saw a "manager" or anyone that appeared to be in charge, just young adults working at their own pace, attempting to make cocktails, and carrying on conversations, for too long, with other customers about their similar interests instead of bringing me my appetizers I ordered after my hour long drive to get there. Aight, maybe it's the Top Shelf, 21 year old's dream of a heavy pour margarita, but I'll do it, I'll give it one more try. Oh, and to the lady who left a 4 star review after saying the food wasn't any good, leave the reviews to the "experts" 😉. You not liking the food is an opinion and 4 out of 5 stars is silly to give to a RESTAURANT when you didn't like...
Read moreTHE Condado of the 502!!! All Louisville foodies have been waiting patiently to see this restaurant come here and the time is now! This brand new location has a modern, laid back appeal and plenty of parking shared with Topgolf.
Atmosphere: Lots of seating for how little square footage is occupied and they even have a super nice patio with heaters for chilly nights! Local artists decked out the walls on all sides and there are so many neat Louisville references mixed into the Condado established art. The music was the perfect volume with the garage door leading to the patio being open at the same time. Seems like a good spot if you want to catch a sports event on TV since they have a few of those inside!
The Goods: this spot has it all and I guarantee you could bring anyone here and they could find something good to eat that fits their palate. Tons of queso, salsa, and guacamole options served alongside house made chips. Over 10 Condado-built tacos (you can substitute anything on the pre-designed tacos!) and the option to build your own taco, bowl, or nachos! Something crazy fun about Condado is the fact that they have DOUBLE DECKER taco shells available in different varieties. They also have a lot of protein options (soy chorizo, pulled pork, ground beef, BBQ pulled jackfruit, beef brisket, etc!!!) and a million ways to edit your meal to your heart’s desire. I could come here 20 times and have a completely different meal each time with how many ingredients are available. My table chose the bowl with rice and beans as our base with varying proteins and toppings. They PACK those bowls, my dudes, just like the menu says. There was so much food and it was all hot when it got to our table. The brisket was SO tender and juicy that it made my first bowl experience so wonderful. The queso we got was great alongside the tortilla chips and a full dip was plenty for three of us. We all got different margarita flavors (blood orange, strawberry, and peach) and we all enjoyed that the fruit flavors did not taste artificial! We will definitely be testing out different margarita flavors in the future (prickly pear sounds so good!).
Staff: this place has a ton of great workers already! Everyone was so nice and helpful with any questions we had. Even though they were doing a super soft opening when we went, the confidence shown in the service was awesome. Their training was extensive (all were versed on the offerings—including food sensitivities!) and it is very obvious.
I can’t wait to see how this location does. They have an amazing foundation already....
Read moreWe visited Condado on 2/22/2025 with reservations, expecting a smooth dining experience, but unfortunately, it was anything but.
Upon arrival, we stood at the entrance with no greeting or acknowledgment from staff. After waiting, we had to seek out an employee across the restaurant just to let them know we were there. Eventually, we were seated, and our server, Irina B., was initially friendly and pleasant. However, as the night went on, she became less attentive, and many of the issues we encountered could have been resolved with better service.
Our food was ordered all at once, yet it arrived inconsistently—some dishes came out while others took much longer. I sat with my meal getting cold, waiting for my wife’s food to arrive. To make matters worse, we ordered drinks and tots that never came, and despite bringing this to Irina’s attention, the issue was not immediately addressed.
The final frustration came when we got home and realized our check was incorrect, as one of our friend’s meals had been added to our bill. The disorganization and slow service caused our dinner to take so long that we were late for our reserved Putshack visit. We had to separate our group to avoid losing our reservation which contributed to the disaster with the checks.
Overall, this restaurant lacked organization, the food was mediocre at best, and service was slow and inattentive. No manager ever checked on our table, and the experience felt like an afterthought. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning and will be looking for alternative dining options...
