I am writing to formally report the unprofessional behavior of Olivia Farmer, who is currently employed at this location. Her actions during my recent visit were completely inappropriate, and I believe she should be terminated immediately.
Earlier this week, I came in with my boyfriend to purchase furniture for our new apartment. Instead of providing professional customer service, Olivia was shockingly unprofessional and disrespectful throughout the entire interaction. She asked my boyfriend personal questions that had nothing to do with the shopping process, blatantly flirted with him, and even told me word-for-word: âGo sit over there, you donât have to sit with us if youâre bored.â The level of disrespect was astounding.
When we inquired about the dimensions of a mirror we were interested in, her response was: âItâs as tall as me, but Iâm shortââthen she compared her height to my boyfriendâs instead of giving a proper measurement. She went as far as asking for his personal phone number and entered it into her own personal device, which is completely unacceptable and a major boundary violation. âď¸âď¸She even asked what my relationship was to my boyfriend, which is entirely irrelevant to furniture shopping.âď¸âď¸
This behavior is inexcusable for someone representing such a reputable, high-end company. Oliviaâs lack of professionalism, her inappropriate conduct, and her blatant disrespect towards me as a customer has left me disgusted. I will be escalating this matter to HR and corporate, and I will not be returning to this location.

My family and I were shopping at Pottery Barn next door and saw this furniture store. We walked in and wanted to browse.
We spent about 20 minutes browsing the store. At one point we saw a patio chair. I asked the sales lady who greeted us earlier (she is African American, but this review has nothing to do with race) if the chair can be sold individually because their website only lists the price for a pair. She said yes and started to take one out for me, at which point I explained to her we are not buying today as we are still waiting to close our new home.
Her altitude just changed 180 degree once she heard we are not buying today âŚ
What happen next is even worse.
Shortly after that we saw an end table and asked her if they have a coffee table of same design. She said âyesâ (no more words). I pulled my cell phone out and tried to find the table on their website. Thatâs when she said to me (in a somewhat hostile tone): DO YOU WORK FOR WAYFAIR? I didnât even realize what she was asking ⌠until later my wife reminded me that wayfair is an online furniture business and she was basically asking if we were spying in their store âŚ
I canât believe a sales lady can be this rude and unprofessional. Whatâs wrong with browsing in a furniture store? Who the hell will spy your little furniture store on a Sunday with wife and kid? AllModern also never followed up on my request to arrange my order deliveries (kicking me instead to the whims of Fedex). Finally, before I purchased AllModern sent repeated emails offering 10% off on the items in my cart, but when I finally went to purchase, they denied the offer⌠until I called, asked for a manager, and told them that advertising the price but refusing to honor it is against MA law. If I could do this again, I would have just ordered the same items directly from the manufacturer, BlueDot. Iâm not sure AllModern offers much of a service beyond aggregating on one website what is available elsewhere.
As a follow-up, I finally received my deliveries. The chairs I ordered came with scuff marks because of the way they were packed. I had the assembly service for my table, which was fine until I noticed that one of the legs is crooked once the delivery and assembly folks left.
