I'm a huge poke fan and am very happy to report that this place is nothing short of excellent.
It's a small, take out-oriented spot that only offers poke bowls, sushi burritos, and a salad option (instead of rice). Portion size, at least for the bowls, is spot on. The sushi rice was well prepared and flavorful (not overcooked, and with plenty of vinegar flavor), fish (tuna and salmon) and toppings (various veg, flying fish roe, nori, etc) were all very fresh. Nice selection of sauces, and everything tasted excellent. The sweet onion topping, which I've not seen a similar version of elsewhere, was especially nice. I also like that they offer both regular and wasabi tobiko.
The space is very clean, the staff is friendly, and I appreciated the nice selection of Asian bottled teas available to accompany the meal.
My only -- very minor -- complaints: I found the cucumbers to be oddly sliced into too-large discs, and I wished the carrots would be pickled, as they are at some of the other shops in the area.
OkiPoke exceeded my expectations by far and I'm looking forward to returning very soon. The space it's in has been a bit of a revolving door, but I'm hopeful that OkiPoke will succeed where others...
Read moreHighly enjoy the poke bowls at this location. The fish tasted fresh and the quality of the fish was outstanding compared to other Poke/Sushi restaurants. I would give this a 5/5 but I give it a 4 due to a slightly less enticing condiment/topping offerings compared to other locations. I hope you guys consider more options for crunch especially fried onions! Another aspect that I may point out is the difference in mixing the proteins along with the sauces you guys provide. Most locations I’ve been to they would take their time to mix in the protein, sauce, and minor toppings all together prior to the condiments/crunch whereas this location will just drizzle a conservative amount of sauce on top of the serving after the bowl has been made. Though you can definitely taste the fish in its more natural state compared to when it is polished in the sauces, I guess it’s a personal preference of having more sauce in the bowl overall compared to the conservative amount I received. To each their own. But overall the fish is extremely fresh and that is the biggest make it or break it case for most poke places. Solid 4...
Read moreGot a custom poke bowl with tuna. I really liked it. I eat a lot of poke. This tuna was fresh and tasted good. The sushi rice was a good texture. I like extremely heavily seasoned sushi rice so theirs was a little light but I think most people would prefer what they have. They had a good amount of toppings and free avocado which I've never seen!! The okipoke sauce was good too. A few minor gripes: I wish they had fried onions or garlic as I love the flavor and crunch they bring. Also, they cut their toppings HUGE. I prefer it when they're sliced smaller so you can get a bite of multiple items. But like they had whole tomatos for a topping and they weren't the teeny ones either. And the mango slices were huge! Very tasty though.
All in all,...
