We were so lucky to get to call this place home as long as we did. In all our years of living in a multitude of apartment complexes, Avalon Alderwood is by FAR the absolute best quality, customer service, and environment to live. The office staff are so friendly, attentive, and willing to listen. The maintenance crew is kind, safe, and feels like family. The building is newer, so it is very nice and clean. But a HUGE shoutout to the crew who cleans it daily, leaving it looking new.

The ease of heading downstairs and shopping at the mall is an absolute perk of living at Avalon. There is a touch of magic during the holiday season when the hustle and bustle is strong. It was an absolute thrill to walk around and grab a snack then head back up without ever having to drive anywhere.

Living on the second floor, we never once heard footsteps above us, we could BARELY hear neighbors, only time you hear people is in passing as they walk down the hall and it wouldn’t linger. The gym was clean and well equipped. The second floor offers 2 outdoor areas and they were fine. You have to be respectful on noise level as people’s doors are RIGHT THERE. But that’s fine, it comes with the territory of living in a complex.

A couple cons: the fire alarms went off a lot. But if the community followed the rules of not opening their front doors when their personal fire alarms went off and not smoking on the property, then the problem would stop. (We had ours go off a couple times and opened the windows, turned on the fan on the microwave and did the old fashioned towel wave around the alarm and BOOM, problem solved. Also, it’s a smoke free complex. You sign and agree to not smoke or vape on property. So heed the warning- everyone can smell it through your bathroom vent.) Another con is the parking lot at night. Sometimes there would be loud people outside in the parking in the middle of the night. Just selfish, rude people. But when you analyze, you can get that behavior at ANY apartment complex in the parking lot, so it’s not a unique experience. Final con: Once you’ve lived at Avalon Alderwood, no other apartment complex is going to compare. You will fall in love with the high standards in place and if you find yourself having to move- you won’t find anything like it at the prices they offer. We are absolutely going to miss this beautiful place and have already decided we need to come back if life allows. I know it would be a different experience if the employees who ran all the different departments weren’t so incredibly kind and willing to go above and beyond. We are forever thankful...

In my experience Michael McNeil is person who has the tendency to follow minorities around the property then lie about it. I would give this property 5 stars if it wasn’t for him.

He followed my kids home after school, and when I asked him why he said it was because they were letting people in the building using a service entrance and the service elevator. Strange behavior for them especially since the service doors would be out of their way, but sometimes kids get into stuff. I reprimanded them, and they took their punishment while still maintaining that they were innocent.

After I moved out a parent from the elementary school told me about the incident because she was there. Our kids are friends. She still lives there so I won’t say who. I don’t want Michael to retaliate against her. She is another person of color.

My children, her, and her children came in the north lobby. When they got in the elevator Michael blocked the doors from closing, and forced everyone out. He then grilled my children about their identities and where they lived. He forced them to re-enter their latch code and then followed them to our door.

When I asked him about it today he left out that they were using a service entrance and said it was the north lobby entrance. Which is it? It’s not hard to remember the truth. He continued to downplay the experience, and that is exactly the kind of thing that makes people with his mindset so dangerous.

This property and my experience here I would consider perfect if it wasn’t for Michael making my children uncomfortable and afraid to walk past the front desk. If I didn’t have to leave because the cost was too much to handle after getting laid off, I would 100% have broken my lease because of his presence.

Donald is amazing. Heather is lovely. The entire maintenance team is fantastic!

There are very little issues with neighbors other than the occasional loud/rowdy nights that happen. There was an uptick of inside smokers and people who left trash in inappropriate places as we were moving out. Hopefully those issues get resolved for...

The apartment itself is a testament to modern luxury. The finishes are of the highest quality, and the amenities—such as the well-equipped gym and beautifully maintained courtyards—are top-notch. Being within walking distance to Alderwood Mall has been a significant benefit, allowing us to enjoy the area’s best shopping and dining options without the need for a car.
