Consistently terrible service My husband and I have frequented this location dozens upon dozens of times since November 2022 because we really like the ramen here and I'm very particular with ramen only because I don't care for plain tonkotsu broth, I really only like it with miso and I love the 2 types of miso they add to theirs.
99% of the time though, they make an error on my order because of my 2 very simple modifications: sub the meat for an extra egg and sub the shaved green onion for chopped green onion. What they consistently mess up on is that they bring my ramen with no onions at all; very simply fix, but incredibly annoying because of the following:
Trying to get a hold of ANY waiter is damn near impossible. Once they finally serve you, don't expect to be checked on at all or at least not until 2 minutes before you're ready to leave. The attitude of the waiters is very obvious they all hate their job, which has been a very obvious thing until just recently and only because there's like 2 people that actually smile now.
By the time you actually get a hold of someone to ask for something you need, they move at a SNAIL'S pace to get it for you. Our togarashi powder was completely empty and when I finally got someone's attention, it took almost 4 minutes to refill it all while I'm waiting to eat my food. The second offense this past Sunday 8/24, was that I needed an extra side of spicy miso paste because this time around, my miso ramen was clearly lacking any miso at all. It took the waitress almost TEN minutes just to bring it to us all while, ONCE AGAIN I'm waiting to continue my food, and it's getting cold. No apology, no sense of urgency, these kids working here clearly do not have an ounce of customer service skills in their body. While I was waiting for my miso paste, the FOUR tables surrounding ours were all trying to get a waiter's attention and some of them even had to get up and walk to the waiters to finally ask for what they needed. unacceptable.
I sent an email to Kizuki while waiting for the miso paste 2 days ago, and I'm still waiting for a response, however considering the service I so consistently receive at this place, I'm not surprised nobody has reached...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my first time visiting the Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya location in Lynnwood, though Iāve been to the Northgate location multiple times. Unfortunately, in comparison, this location falls a bit short in terms of food quality. While the experience wasnāt bad, there were a few noticeable issues that kept it from being great.
Ambiance: 5/5 The restaurant has a clean and inviting atmosphere, typical of Kizuki locations. Itās a nice spot to enjoy a meal with friends or family.
Authenticity: 4/5 The ramen itself had a traditional flavor profile, but some execution issues brought down the experience. The broth was slightly saltier than I prefer, and the gyoza lacked the crisp bottom thatās expected from a proper pan-fry.
Flavor: 3.5/5 The ramen was decent but a bit salt-heavy. The bigger issue was the tonkatsu. It was over-fried and dry, which was disappointing since the Northgate location does it much better. I also suspect that my pork chop might have been pieced together before frying because one side had an odd char that wouldnāt normally happen if it were fried whole and then cut.
Cost: 4/5 Pricing is standard for a ramen shop, and while I wouldnāt say itās overpriced, I expected better quality given the price.
Service: 5/5 The staff was friendly and attentive, which made up for some of the food quality issues. No complaints in this area.
Final Thoughts: Overall, while Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya in Lynnwood isnāt a bad spot, I canāt say it lives up to the quality of the Northgate location. The ramen was slightly too salty, the gyoza needed more crisp, and the tonkatsu was disappointing. Iād still give this place 4/5 stars, but if I had to choose, Iād go back to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreKizuki Ramen & Izakaya: Brand new location, Lynnwood at the alder wood mall tbh honest was kinda excited about this I've been to 2 locations out south and they were ok granted many years ago and things change for better or for worse either way new location always giving a fare chance. So I tried a few things on brand new openings there's always things that go wrong no matter how big or small the company. I went there today . I assume they've only been open a little bit. But the first impressions of walking in located in a mall was wow they did a great job on a modern take of there old places love the decor!! Ordered the food and drinks , (tea) I don't do alcohol. Ordered the karage , pork bun , karage was a lot better then the first time I'd had it nice crisp good taste not to salty like the first time , good sized pieces. Sauce ehh spicy mayo ok I've had that a million versions . Not a huge mayo fan though so take that with a grain. Pork bun option karage bun too. Honestly shoulda gone with the chicken , they give dollaps of 3 sauces which seem like spicy mustard like Chinese mustard that is , hoisin sauce? Keeping mayo I liked the mustard. Ok so ramen ... I modified it to my liking , garlic ramen as the base added regular spicy , corn , greens , and a side of tan tan chicken. Which was Yuma , a bit salty but good taste. Broth wasn't as rich a scosche watered down. But it was ok otherwise. Overall I'd give a 6.5 Side note it's hard for me to give a perfect score of 10 that would mean perfection existed and I don't know about you but if your still reading this then we'll nothing is ever truly...
