Plato's is always a great place to find great deals! Recently I stopped in to find some black pants and black cocktail dresses for work. They had a BYOB (bring your own bag) event going the same day so I brought my own bag along. Even though it was super busy and I had my 2 month old and 3 year old in tow my shopping experience was great. Wait for a dressing room but the girl working was attentive and sweet and got me on the larger room quickly since I had 2 kids with me. I tried on things and purchased what fit with no problems.
My bad rating is because of the manager and my experience afterwards. I shopped on a Saturday, I have 2 young kids, and I brought my own bag. So it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that the bag with my items stayed in the car for several days before I brought it inside and pulled the items out. To my surprise, there was only one pair of black pants and one black dress in my bag. I had thought I found 2 dresses that worked. So I looked at my receipt to see if I had paid for two dresses. It appeared that I had, so I called the store to see what I could do. Maybe they had held onto the dress? I doubted it but still wanted to call and see. The girl I spoke with was sweet and courteous and quickly got me to the manager. The manager however made sure I knew that she "can't come to my home and check that I didn't really have the dress" and has no way of knowing if I really purchased it and that Saturday was super busy and they don't give bags, etc etc. On the offensive, so to speak. She did however say I could get store credit, if I come within 14 days of purchase. As a 28 year old professional who has worked in retail and has managed many times, I thought "she must get a lot of kids trying to pull one over on her, it's fine." I can understand that, so I excused her the rudeness over the phone.
So since I have to run to Costco anyway and Plato's is nearby I thought I would go ahead and resolve the issue. I walked in, again the girls working were perfectly sweet and friendly and quick to help. The manager was there, hovering, but acting like she wasn't involved or the manager. One of the girls had me fill out a little thing on returns, and had questions about how to issue store credit. I had pointed out the line that said WB BLACK which I had taken to mean the black dress I didn't actually receive. Again, I had thought I picked and paid for 2 dresses after trying on several. The manager is right there hovering around the girls discussing how to issue store credit. The girl comes back to tell me that line isn't for a dress it's for a black pant and did I mean this other line ? I am confused and say "uh, I guess so? I'm sorry". The manager immediately asks another girl to go get the receipt and see if there are 2 dresses on it. She is 6 feet away from me, I can hear and see everything she is doing. The girl retrieves the receipt and says there is just one dress. NOW the manager decides to come talk to me instead of hovering. She says "I'm the manager and there is only one dress on this receipt." I looked at it again, tried to explain that I thought "WB BLACK" was referring to a dress and had misunderstood my receipt but she just shoved the receipt back to me and said triumphantly "there is only one dress on this receipt." Instead of talking with me immediately when I arrived, she knew I was there and that we had talked on the phone earlier, and instead of looking at the receipt herself to know at the front if it was correct or not she hung back and waited until she could jump in and embarrass me, making it appear I was trying to steal. I apologized, apologized to the girl that was issuing store credit and left. . I had no problem being wrong, it was an honest mistake. I wasn't trying to get anything extra out of it. But the experience and treatment from the manager was embarrassing. No one deserves to be disrespected that way. And as I said, I'll never...
Read moreHonestly, I have so much to say about this place. The only good thing about this location and reason I'll even take the time to do a review because I can't give one star is that they keep the place clean and relatively organized. I have brought clothes in to sell and have bought clothes from here. -Every time I bring clothes in they take 3-4 items and give me less than $20-$15 for them. Today I brought in THREE bags of clothes that I have bought THIS YEAR and do not fit me because of weight gain. They took FIVE items and gave me less than $20. Firstly, I understand that I don;t have to take the offer, but if you waste two hours of my time, Might as well get lunch from it. Now I understand needing to make a profit, maintain inventory, pay your employees, and run a business but they absolutely do not need a $10-$20 gain on reselling something they bought for like $2. Not to mention that gain on a USED item. That is an outrageous and unnecessary gain for their business that they advertise as being a second hand sell store. If you want to have prices and profits like Target, H & M, and such then get into that business. Not second hand selling.
-Secondly, the clothes that I am bringing in are brand new. A lot of them very much still in style and things that I buy from name brand stores, brought home, didn't like/didn't fit and they sat in my closet because I never went back to return them, as stated above. That is supposed to be the whole point of this store! I completely waste my time coming here.
I get even more upset and the store feels even more scummy when they are turning down absolutely great quality and trendy clothes and I see clothes that are very clearly old, worn down, with tears and holes, broken zippers and past their time on their racks, simply because they have a "high end" label slapped on them. That is an absolute slap in the face to your customers.
-The staff. I almost don't even want to get into the staff. They are rude, snobby teens and young individuals who are not trained by their management on how to act appropriate, have good manners, and just overall be told that they can't act however they want to people without consequences. This is not about "the customer is always right", this is about staff being overall kind, and good people to others, not just for the sake of business. If I was the owner of this place I would be publicly humiliated to find out that these kind of people are working for me.
Please do not support this business. Do not waste your time. Do not continue to support their over profited gains. Stick to selling on Facebook market where at least you'll be treated decently, and get the money you deserve for the perfectly good items you are selling. Cause this place needs a total revamp...
Read moreI honestly wish I could give this Plato’s Closet zero stars but in order to leave a review I have to give it 1 star. I will never return to this store. Ever. The sheer attitude that was given was completely unprofessional and extremely disrespectful. I wish I would have taken a picture of what I walked into after receiving my text that my items were finished being processed. I walked in and my things had been placed near the front entrance of the business and it looked like my 4 totes had been rummaged through by customers. There was no respect for my items and they were certainly not handled with care. Mind you, I came in at 5pm and was told it would take at minimum 2 hours before my items would be processed. I got a text 45 mins later telling me they were done to come back and find out that only ONE item had been selected out of at least 200 items of clothing I’d brought in. The red head behind the counter that helped me was examining her nails and didn’t even make eye contact with me when she said “So um… we only wanted one item for $3.60” and the way she said it insinuated that plus size clothing wasn’t something they were interested in. The tone in her voice was completely condescending and I just asked for my item and left because it was a huge slap in the face when I literally just expunged my entire closet of popular brands like Lululemon, American Eagle, Victoria’s Secret PINK, Old Navy, and others that are still in season, on trend, and some with tags that had never been worn because I lost 100 lbs and they are too big for me so I wanted to share the love with others to get items that were still like new for cheaper than retail. The worst part is that once I got everything reloaded into my car I called the store while sitting in the parking lot and asked to speak to the manager. Guess who the manager was? The red head who was completely rude to me inside the store so I asked the sales associate for the name of the manager so I could call in the morning and make sure I was able to speak with a different manager to report what happened and that’s when the red head snatched the phone and said she was the manager and she didn’t have to give me her name because she was feeling attacked and uncomfortable when all I was trying to do was report my experience to a manager but once I found out it was her I was extremely disappointed as I worked retail for 12 years and for 7 of those years I was a store manager myself and I never in a million years would have allowed such unprofessionalism to run in my business. Such a shame, too, because I have also enjoyed Plato’s Closet, but I have to say I will never shop or sell at the Lynnwood location or another...
