Why haven’t I come hear before? My friends suggested this place for dinner. They couldn’t had chosen any better. This is a fantastic eatery! We started with a drink at the bar when we walked in to wait for our friends. The gal and gent at the bar were warm and friendly and hit it out of the ballpark with their recommendations. I had The American Woman, a blackberry gin with sage cocktail...oh yeah! My hubby had the Band of Bohemia Rye Bread Porter. I am not a bear drinker and I want to buy this Chicago beer for my house. It was that good. Our dinner was beyond fabulous! The melted cheese with bacon jam served with the thinnest and crispiest bread...the bomb! Gooey warm goodness with bacon flavor on top of that crisp crunch of bread ...omg. The stuffed shrimp were good. Panko coated and flashed fried, crispy with a soft creamy middle. Yum! My entree was excellent. I never had salmon cooked to a perfect medium that actually melted in my mouth. Full of smokey wood flavor and extremely moist. I need to eat this again...seriously! It was served with a mustard vinaigrette which I asked for on the side, but didn’t touch because why mask perfection? There was a fresh and bright arugula apple salad with lemon vinaigrette next to the salmon. Our table shared the molten lava cake for dessert...best ever. Moist chocolate cake with a decadent rich oozing chocolate flowing from the center next to a sweet raspberry sauce - need I say more? I think not. Our server Victor was personable, interacted with us and provided attentive service. Nick, the owner, made sure to stop to chat with us, too. Kudos to you, Nick...I love your place! I cannot wait to...
Read moreOur 1st time here and our last! Let's start with the service, we sat outside as it was a beautiful night. Our server had to be located several times by my husband as well as staff. Let's say she could care less that we, as well as the other tables, were out here.
The food, although it looked good, it was absolutely terrible! The filet was overcooked, and zero flavor tasted like a plain ground burger! The cheesy potatoes were ice cold. We had to send someone to get our unattetive server. She said yeah it happens. You just took this out of the fridge. The plate is cold, too! That took 20 minutes. Never asked about the filet. My husband ordered the bone in ribeye. Again, zero flavor, the frash asparagus came mushy!
Such a waste of money on such poor quality and care for your customers.
We sat outside and waited, all the other tables cleared, still waiting on the server to bring us our bill. Finally, she comes, drops it, and leaves! We waited so long my husband brought it inside to the front desk!
We met 2 couples who were heading to Tates for ice cream( which was delicious), said they ate at steak and vine, and the food was terrible. Described what I already said.
Sad that I wasted my hard earned money at a place that doesn't value their own establishment!
We definitely won't be back! I would NOT...
Read moreWe had our anniversary dinner here last Monday night. I had not been here in a couple years (we don't live very near to LaGrange) and had kind of forgotten about it. Too bad for us! This place is so good, and worth a 20-mile drive. I had the filet mignon we brussels sprouts and my husband had the double-thick pork chop and loaded baked potato. We also shared a chopped salad and a bottle of wine, which was half priced on Monday. All of their prices seem fair and reasonable. Everything was so good; the meat was cooked exactly to order. The bread was replenished free of charge. Our waitress, Geargie, was great, offered recommendations, and was attentive without being overly so. Food was prompt but not rushed. They gave us a free dessert with a sparkler to celebrate. The co-owner/chef Mike came by to check on us and answered a few questions I had about how the chop was prepared. The music was there, but kept toned down so as to make conversation easy. There is a bar area in front, with a separated dining area in back. I can't believe it took us two years to come back. It won't be that long again...
