This place is honestly the best spot in the city(area) on so many levels. The staff treats not only each other, but everyone they encounter like family. They'll remember a face and are genuinely excited to see you when you come back. I don't think I've been anywhere with staff this cool lol. It's Black Owned, the owners are there OFTEN unlike most shops I've visited in the city, and they as well as their staff really know their material! They're great at recommending reads, they've got both mainstream AND indie stuff, and honestly I just need them to go ahead and expand already because their excitement over literally everything they sell is delightful energy you want to be around! I think some of these (n) reviews might have been from the shop it was before, it was a pretty decent shop in the past I thought-- but these new owners have really put their all of their love into this place and their staff (a mix of previous and new employees) and it shows. I've found a great selection of comics and some graphic novels, and although it's still small I find they've organized and improved it incredibly from what it was before. They've added a lot more selection between last year I visited and a few days ago I've noticed, and it sounds like they have way more nerd interests I'm excited to see executed. I visited them both when they opened as well as free comic book day and honestly am trying to figure out how I can fit in a weekly trip! Thanks for everything y'all, please keep up the great work! 10/10 would recommend, go again, adopt them as my new family or just all my new besties and possibly start a...
Read moreI don't think I've ever been happier with a local comic shop. This has been my spot for weekly pulls for a number of months, and it will remain that way. If you are a reader that has weekly subscriptions, you'll be very happy with Blerds. Their app integration makes it so easy. They make their pulls on time and can get what you are looking for if you missed a title. They also have really generous member incentive. The store is super tidy, well organized, and everything in the shelves is kept it excellent condition. It is a small space and is not packed with racks of crappy trinkets and collectibles, which I think is a bonus. It is obvious that they put a ton of care into selling comics. Most important....the staff! Owned and operated by exceptional people. They take the time to get to know their customers and are incredibly friendly and helpful. They make excellent recommendations. Kev, in particular, gives some of the best customer service I've ever encountered. There is zero comic-snobbery coming from this place. Don't hesitate to give them your...
Read moreI really want to like the store - decent location to my job, pleasant staff. Here's the problem - I go to comic book stores to, you know, buy comics. I struggle to complete this process when the store doesn't order enough books to meet demand! To be sold out of major books just a couple of hours after opening on new comic Wednesday is just not acceptable. Listen, I get it - no one wants to sit on inventory that isn't moving. But we're talking about popular books! Thus, I'm forced to go out of my way and visit a different store to pick up the books that the owner/order person felt the need to skimp on. (And NO I'm not interested in starting a subscription - my job takes me all around the city when I'm not in my office and I like to grab books at my convenience.) This is my second visit to the store over the last couple of months and the second time this situation has occurred. Not likely to be a third...
