Customer Service is Premium ! After signing up for Email promotions, we placed our very first order. We received an order confirmation, which contained some limited quantity items. Releived that we had beaten the rush and would receive all that we had wanted. BUT.... after waiting a week for a shipment notice, we became worried, and caller for an update. Assuming it was just a pandemic delay for stock-pulling staffing shortages and transportation delays, we hoped we would soom be assured that our assumptions were correct. After all, we had asked for cold weather gear, in late May, so no rush, no worry.
BUT NO... The friendly telephone voice had an entirely different take for our, now smoldering, ears. After checking her data base for our order number: Does not appear in computer, was never started. And the one item we wanted most as a Christmas gift: has sold OUT. Will "probably" again be offered in late OCTOBER.
Thinking the absolute worst for this outfit, under our breath: What a dump, we are through with this bunch of incompetent bums. AND they aren't even in Duluth, Minnesota, but have moved to some hick jerkwater village in WISCONSIN. !!
BUT THEN... The pleasant telephone voice, JACKIE by name, began by making a heartfelt apology. "I can't explain what happened to your order. It just isn't here. LET ME SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE.." And here is what was done: The order was re-entered and confirmed. Double discounts were applied. Expensive expedited shipping was applied at no cost. A promise noted in her order profile to apply same double discounts to the sold out item, once it reappears in inventory at full price, but not for us alone.
We received our truncated order in about 5 days.
NOW, I ASK, IS THAT CUSTOMER SERVICE ? YES, IT IS. OF THE PREMIUM VARIETY for sure. Our faith restored, we are now loyal shoppers, and will brag to all of the virtues of
DULUTH...
Read moreI’m not a fan at all and just because you enjoy the outdoors doesn’t mean this will be the store for you. I came here once shortly after it first opened to check it out and that will probably be my last visit. I personally found this store to be very expensive and I don’t feel the pricing equally reflects the actual value for a lot of what they sell. Believe me when I say I understand quality comes with a price tag and you get what you pay for, I just want to ensure I’m not paying anything more then that. I’m very much an outdoor enthusiast(year round) so I feel in all my experiences that I’m very well versed in the art of being cold, wet and far away from the comforts of civilization and with those experiences I’ve become very alert at the importance of owning the right gear to stay dry and warm without spending more then I need to. If money isn’t a concern then you can easily disregard my review because someone with deeper pockets obviously won’t have the same limitations that I have and the convenience of this store may be worth the cost to them. For me however I’d rather take my money to REI where I have a larger selection of choices, expert advice is available and what you spend compares with that of your needs and doesn’t just go to an over advertised brand name that has been very successful in marketing its brand to convince people to pay more then it’s actual usable value. I’m not writing this to slander or detour someone from forming their own opinions or from visiting this store themselves, I’m just simply stating my reasons for why I didn’t...
Read moreI was very excited to take a trip to the Duluth Store on a sat morning which was almost an hour from my house. I had a pair of pants with a few defects that i bought 6 months ago and was going to use my "hassle free garentee" to exchange them. As I walked threw the door i was greeted by a woman named Lois. She said "can I help you" in a very rude tone. I responded "yes maam i have a pair of pants i bought 6 months ago with some defects" Lois said "no way you bought those 6 months ago do you have a reciept" Yes maam i do. When she saw that i did in fact buy them 6 months ago she changed her tune to "thats normal wear and tear" and we cant help you because theyve been washed. I asked if she is not going to stand by the company's "hassle free garentee" she replied NO! I asked for a card so i could call corporate. Lois was rude and gives this store a very bad name. I would have told her that I wont be buying from Duluth any longer however during my call to cooperate they appogized fiercly for Lois's behavior and that they in fact do stand by their policy and gave me an instant refund. In conclusion, This employee is going to run off good customers who love this store. She was combative from the second she saw me and gave deluth a horrible name. I will be buying from Duluth still but never...
