2/9/2022 After my first experience I went back to Dar in the fall of 2021 after her new fabrics came in. I selected a fabric and ordered a vest that I wanted from that fabric. I wanted a vest that I could wear with jeans for more casual events but could also match up with a nice pair of dress slacks and dress shirt for a more formal look. I wanted a breast pocket for a pocket square. Everywhere else I had looked locally could do the vest but could not include the breast pocket.
This order was hit by supply chain issues first there were problems getting the material from Italy to the tailor in Canada, then there were problems getting the shipment from the tailor to the US. Dar kept me informed and I was fine with the wait... When I went in to pick up the vest it was exactly what I wanted, a perfectly fitted vest in the material I selected with a silk lining and that lining material used for the back panel. Because of the delays she gave me a discount on the vest and also gifted me a nice pair of cufflinks that I was looking at. This was not something she had to do, as I was fine with the fact that she had kept me informed and it was out of her control, but it was something she wanted to do.
The other day, one of the vice presidents where I work commented that I am always the best dressed person in the building. I can credit Dar with a lot of that. When I went in to pick up my vest today, I was wearing a three piece suit I had made somewhere else. She complemented me on the look of the vest, but then had some suggestions for improvements her tailor could make to the suit. These were things that I had already decided I wanted changed. She asked me to have the suit cleaned and then to bring it in so she can mark it for these alterations. This is a service that she makes nothing off of, and yet she offered to set this up for me. That is service.
A couple of years ago, I decided that I wanted to switch out to wearing just french cuffs. I can buy dress shirts off the shelf, but I want french cuffs and sometimes contrasting collars and cuffs. I can find white and blue french cuff shirts, but have to go with bespoke shirts for a lot of what I want, and even then the range of fabrics available does not satisfy my tastes. Dar noted that, and is looking into the possibility of my bringing in shirts I have purchased elsewhere and removing the collar and cuffs and replacing them with collars and cuffs she can have made for me by her shirt tailors. Again a service that fits my needs and one that she will not make as much money from but something she wants to offer to help me achieve the look that I want.
All in all, Dar is a professional, the service she offers is so much more than bespoke clothing. She listens to what you want, and finds a way to make it work. Even when that does not mean as much profit for her. Dar is a clothing and style consultant first and foremost, a bespoke clothing vendor second. She knocks it out of the park in both areas of...

Have you ever worked with someone who has found their calling in what they do? A true master of their domain? This is easily Dar when it comes to getting fitted for any occasion.
She provided easily the most unique and fruitful fitting I've ever had in my life - and it was honestly more painless than any of the previous ones.
As I recall, Dar took one tailor's-tape measurement (and it wasn't event he inseam like most people ask when I tell them that) and the rest was done using brand-specific blanks of what I had initially chosen. After trying on a coat or a pair of pants, Dar took photos on a backdrop and made some markings with a chalk to get true lengths for sleeves and pant legs.
At one point during the initial fitting, Dar told me to relax but... I didn't even know I was tense. She has a honed and refined eye that notices every fine details that can, and will, have an impact on the final fit of whatever you purchase.
The selection of fabric, linings, buttons, and threads were all wide and, not fully knowing what I was getting myself into, Dar also was willing and able to provide some advice for what works well for whatever your occasion is or how they will mesh with your current selections.
Communication is something that often leaves something to be desired these days, but not with Dar! NO NO! She was great in emailing me with updates (supply chain issues hit me, but it was only a delay that had no impact on what I ended up getting) and she even reached out via telephone when a message slipped through the cracks of my inbox.
I was able to arrive about 5-10 minutes early to the final fitting and it fit PERFECTLY. Very honestly one of the most flattering and well made suits I've ever worn. I had things on, off, and final tailor fees paid before my scheduled appointment even started and I was on my way.
At the time of writing this, the event this suit was purchased for has not yet happened, so I don't have any pictures to share, but suffice it to say that this is a truly custom suit that was created through a truly custom experience. I will be going back to Lucca Men's (and Dar) for the foreseeable future with any of my custom tailoring needs and you'd be silly not to give Dar an opportunity to make whatever your occasion is special through a fitting...

After previous failed experiences at Men's Wearhouse (over the years), Suit Supply (last year) and online MTM (Oliver Wicks this year) -- somehow I had yet to find a proper fitting suit (FIT IS KING, REMEMBER). My precious time and money were wasted -- and my chances of making it on a GQ cover were diminishing fast!
Then I found Dar. And all was right in the world.
I e-mailed and made an appointment (once in which she accommodated for my schedule). So after making this wonderful woman stay late, we got to work.
First -- the fabric. What beautiful fabric. We went through many many options -- finally I chose a wonderful charcoal grey by one of the oldest Italian mills in Italy, Vitale Barberis Canonico.
Now to the fun part -- measurements. Dar has a keen eye to detail -- noticing things about my body that no other tailor has. She took some pictures, wrote it all down, and I was out the door.
Four weeks later (which is slightly better than average on a MTM in my experience) -- I went in for what would be my first (and only needed) fitting.
Wow! I look good. And I mean DAMN good. The jacket lays perfectly and the trousers fit just as well.
As my style continues to develop, I am really looking forward to working with Dar to refine exactly what I want in a suit. And the great thing is that I know she's the person to go on this journey with.
Her immense knowledge, the confidence in which she speaks, and her wonderful disposition made the experience worth every single penny.
Do yourself a favor, go see Dar and start looking like a...
