I love this place. Having just moved to STL from Wisconsin, I've been looking for a few smaller items that I didn't bring from home, like a coffee table and maybe some bookshelves. I've been to nearly a dozen home consignment stores, thrift shops, and antique malls over the past two weeks, and this place was by far my favorite.
I found a coffee table and three accent tables (I could have kept looking and buying but it wouldn't all fit in my car!) that, all together, cost me less than $150. The people working are so helpful and nice, and the store is huge.
Of course, there are some junkier things (or what I might think of as "junkier"... some people can totally make it look great), but there are a lot of gems. When I first walked in I was a little daunted by the selection. The store is big and they have a lot of stuff, so have a good idea of what you need, otherwise you will get overwhelmed very easily. Be sure to check out everything, since some of the sections seem to have accumulated more and more over time, so some great stuff might be buried underneath a pile of books or something.
Helpful tip: I was told my the man who helped me that if you intend to buy something, take the tag off of it and once you think you're ready to check out, give the tags to a worker and they'll get your stuff.
I'm so happy with this place. It's without a doubt my go-to antique/furniture consignment store in STL. I'll be back soon to pick up a...
Read moreRecent experience left me fuming...
I have visited this antique mall a handful of times and have always had a pleasant experience until recently. I went there in search of some ornaments my friend mentioned she saw there. They were $5 each and there were 25 of them. I went to the checkout area and asked to make an offer since it’s AFTER Christmas and the total cost was over $100 but was told NO. I then asked if the dealer had any sales going and was again told NO. Then I asked one more time if they could make an exception since its past Christmas and over $100 but all I got was NO NO NO. It was like a broken record hearing them (two guys behind the counter) – Again, "NO NO NO." I was told since the individual item was $5 they couldn’t call the dealer. That’s ridiculous! And just to make sure I’m not being unfair, I called my friend who has three booths at the South County Antique Mall and she said they would have called the dealer in my situation. No one was in line at the time I was asking for the dealer to be contacted – so it’s not like they were swamped. I doubt I’ll be back anytime soon. If you want to keep customers happy then you should consider changing your “rule” when someone is looking...
Read moreThis place has some good vendors with decent prices. However, I am very unhappy with my recent experience here. I bought two items for $21, I give the employee my card, he runs it, then has me go sign for it. The total was actually $621. He wasn’t paying attention and ran my debit card for $600 more than the price was. If I wasn’t paying attention to what I was signing, they would’ve gotten away with overcharging me by $600. They did refund my card, but all I got was a sorry and a shrug as if it happens all the time. I’m very lucky that I had more than enough money in my account to cover it, otherwise it could’ve been a lot worse for me. However, now I have to wait to have access to money I didn’t plan to not have access to. A couple bucks would’ve been fine, but $600 is absolutely unacceptable. I can’t help but think about how this situation could’ve really affected someone who couldn’t afford to lose $600 due to someone not paying attention. This was only my 2nd time in here, so if I ever come back I will be sure to look at their computer before my card is charged and you should also...
