I went here today, but unfortunately, I didn't have time to fully enjoy my visit, as it was almost closing time before I arrived.
From what I could see, they had quite a lot of $1 comic books ( Marvel, DC, Image, etc.) They had a very nice collection of Spiderman comics. Even a few issues of the original series of " The Amazing Spiderman" comic series that ran from March 1963 through November 1998. Which was around 441 ssues. If memory serves, me well?
Had a huge selection of vinyl records. Now be forewarned, I am not, nor have I ever been a collector of vinyl. So, my opinion of a huge selection may be very untrue to a true collector of vinyl?
They also have a fairly descent collection of music on Cd. As an avid collector of physical media and owning a huge collection myself. I would say it's a descent collection. But only about a tenth of my personal collection. But I have been collecting music on cd since they first were released on cd.
Anyway, they also have a small collection of collectible figures/ action figures.
Again, I didn't have much time to check out the entire building. But if you want to have physical copies of Comic book's/ Cd/Vinyl, Then definitely stop by and check them out. If I had another hour or so, I could have given a much better description of the entire store.
Hopefully, very soon, I can get back to the store and have time to enjoy my visit.
If I am not mistaken, "Jack" was working today? and he was a well spoken, and intelligent man. Would love to have time to just sit down and pick his brain for his comic knowledge. Maybe one day in the near future, I can do exactly that?
The store was tidy, neat, and well maintained. And from the few particular items I had time to look at, I didn't see any price gouging or over pricing.
Haven't had an active subscription to a comic book in many, many years. Idk if that is even a possibility anymore? But I definitely would like to get back into that area of my multiple collections.
So, to finish up. If you are in Matthews or nearby, and have ever enjoyed going to the local comic book or local music store. Then you definitely need to stop in at least one. I guess this is gonna sound sad, but it made me feel like I was a 17 year old kid again. Was nice to feel that once again. So to " Jack" thank you, good sir. Hope to see you again...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you love to shop records and comic books, you need to stop at Mad Jackās Records & Comics! Itās been here for years inside Precious Restorations on Trade Street in Downtown Matthews. Theyāve got a selection of new and used Records, LPās and vinyl to pick from. The owner, Jack Marble buys record collections all the time. I see people selling records, CDs, 8-tracks, audio equipment, vintage guitars, you name it. Iāve been going there for a few years for the comic books. The store has a selection of silver age to modern age back-stock including dollar bin and three for a dollar books. Jack is always keeping the stock fresh by buying collections and restocking the comics so I have to keep going back or check Instagram for whatās new. They also sells graded comic slabs from CGC and CBCS, magazines, Star Wars toys and other toys and collectibles. I have to mention that the owner is a really nice guy. Iāve been in the store enough times and Iāve seen him talk to all ages of people from children to octogenarians and treats all of them kindly and respectfully. This is a place I have no problem recommending...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI inherited 4 boxes of records from my dad⦠brought them to Mad Jackās to sell and found THE BEST comics/memorabilia/vinyl/vintage-cool-stuff store in Charlotte (Matthews actually)! You should know, most of my dadās record collection wasnāt ācoolā enough for resale (Jackās vinyl offering is curated beautifully and meticulously!), but I also ended up selling some old comics, some Marvel & DC reference books, a few Marvel cardboard stand-ups, and a framed movie poster! And while Mad Jackās will pay you cash for your (good condition) used items, I opted to trade for a rockinā Guns Nā Roses tank top, a Mad Jackās trucker hat, and store credit for my kids to come back and shop later. Jack and Dana were welcoming, fun, and very easy to make a deal with! Mad Jackās in Matthews is definitely worth a visit⦠buy, sell, trade or just enjoy perusing a fun shop full of interesting finds (they also sell vintage jewelry!) that are sure to bring smiles to the whole family! *Pics are some of the stuff I sold + my awesome new gear from...
