Review: Topshop Maui – The Ultimate Nerf Battlefield Experience
Topshop Maui is hands-down one of the most unexpectedly magical finds on the island—and absolutely the place to burn off energy, cool down in the AC, and have an unforgettable blast, whether you’re flying solo or rolling deep with a big group.
First off: the arsenal. It’s insane—in the best way. They’ve got everything from rapid-fire Nerf blasters to foam-dart snipers, and the staff is incredible at helping you gear up and get ready for battle, whether you’re a total newbie or a foam-dart veteran. Every round is a chance to switch it up, try a new loadout, and find your signature style. It’s like a video game, but real life—and way more fun.
The venue itself is impressive—clean, organized, and just the right amount of epic. The battlefield layout is dynamic and full of great cover, sneaky pathways, and themed obstacles that make every round feel fresh. Plus, the place is super welcoming. If you show up on your own, it’s easy to jump into a game and find other kids (or adults!) to team up with. And if you bring a crew? You’re in for nonstop action and memories.
The staff is the cherry on top—friendly, encouraging, and totally committed to making sure everyone’s having a great time. They’re great with kids, but they also know how to keep the games fun and fast-paced for grownups too.
Honestly, Topshop is one of those rare, genius activities that’s perfect when Maui’s weather isn’t cooperating—or even when it is but you just want a break from the heat and humidity. It’s like stepping into a whole different world for an hour or two. Cool, clean, and packed with fun.
In short: Topshop Maui is a must-do. Whether you’re a local, a visitor, a family, or just someone looking to run around and have a...
Read moreMy nephews had so much fun, they can't wait to go back again. The rules were simple enough for them to understand. No shots to the head Don't shoot while the other player is reloading their Nerf gun. You must wear grip socks. (You can bring your own, like the ones from the Trampoline park. Or you can purchase them when you check in and sign the waiver form downstairs.)
They played with all the kids upstairs, but there's a downstairs playground section for smaller children who don't want to shoot guns. They also have a private room downstairs that you can rent for parties. (With a private section for Nerf gun play.)
After checking in and paying (I paid for one hour, but there is also a two-hour option), the kids head upstairs to pick out their guns and safety eye protective wear. They're allowed to pick out any gun, automatic or manual. However, the automatic gun was too difficult for the little one. The automatic gun requires you to hold the lock button, while at the same time using your other hand to press the trigger. It was also too heavy for him. (But he still had a blast with his smaller manual gun!)
TIP If they're too small to operate the automatic guns, purchase the Elite Level. The Elite Level gives you access only to the manual Nerf guns. (The Power Level includes full access to any of the Nerf guns (both automatic and manual), at a slightly higher rate.)
As for the eye protection, they have three (3) options: Clear eyeglasses Goggles Goggles with a face mask covering
There are couches for the parents to relax on while the kids are playing. There's also, a see-through screen you can watch them to make sure they're not shooting other kids' heads, or to remind them to put their goggles back...
Read moreI took my 8-year-old daughter and her friend to Top Shot for the first time, and unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. The girls were really excited, but the experience fell short in several ways.
The staff was rude and unhelpful. When I asked about the different gun options, the woman at the front desk was very short with me and pushed the more expensive “turbo gun” upgrade, insisting it was easier to use. That wasn’t the case at all.
The kids spent most of their time struggling to reload the guns, and several didn’t even work properly. We got little help and even attitude from the staff at the gun station.
I paid $72 for two kids and they only got about 15 minutes of actual play time.
Very disappointing experience — I would not recommend it. Save your...
