If you want to try local cuisine and don't want to hit a restaurant, come here. Though when we got here it was a little after lunch, and some of the places were closed already, or not open that day. It was veterans day...
Parking is limited and in a very dusty and dirty dirt parking, right next to the food trucks.
Anyways...
Got food from two different places that aren't listed here, so my review will be specific to the places we visited.
Ordered food and a drink from Hawaiian Homemade lemonade This place was the reason why this didn't make 5 stars... Ordered strawberry lemonade in the mason jar, the jar itself is cute, everything is reusable, and the straw hole has a mini lid, super cute, super worth the but for $10. But the lemonade was...subpar for me...it didn't give me that mouth pucker that good lemonade should give, it tasted watered down, and the strawberry was lacking. It did have a ton of the strawberry seeds though..
Ordered a couple of hot dogs, they both lacked in flavor... Sauerkraut was almost tasteless, and pizza can be eaten without the hotdog.
The other place Abikis Caribbean flavas was super good. Ordered the steak plate, everything was seasoned super well, the pulled chicken sandwich was mouth wateringly delicious. The young man who was running everything by himself, I wish I tipped him more, he totally deserved every tip he makes. I don't usually worry about prices at these places because it's a food truck in Hawaii, gotta make ends meet... 🥺
He was very kind, friendly, and hard working.
Totally come here, even though it's a wait, it's totally worth it.
Also... Too many flies and too much dust, eat in your car... Also worth it to wear a mask even though it's super hot outside, don't wanna eat a fly before you eat. Can't help the flies, which is not an issue that I'd make...
Read moreAfter a day of travel we were very hungry and stopped by the food truck park to get a bite to eat. Parking is extremely hard to find so you may need to park in the next door hotel’s parking lot just to get in. The first thing that stands out at this food truck are the prices. Everything feels way too expensive for what honestly looks like average food in their menu pictures. Ordering was not easy either as the POS system is not intuitive. After messing around with the tablet for 5 minutes we decided to just order at the truck itself. We ordered a cheeseburger and fish and chicken combo with a mango drink. The food took a long time to come out, we know they were busy but it took an inordinately long time to come out. When it did come out we were glad to get our food but they forgot we ordered a mango drink and when we reminded the lady at the truck she seemed very annoyed that we reminded her, not a great look.
The food itself was not good. You can tell they got all their stuff from the Costco nearby and just threw it in a fryer before serving it. The fried chicken was over crispy and had oil pockets under the breading, the fish wasn’t awful but it was definitely the Costco breaded fish fillets fried up. The cheeseburger was the best part of the meal and it was just alright. We would say to avoid this truck and just go to one of the many in the...
Read moreYou know, this food truck stop is ok but it’s not as great as everyone is reviewing it. It’s got like 10 trucks to variety is good but a few were closed middle Saturday lunch time. We personally tried the Kaeo’s Grinds which was poke stuff. Big time high price for pokey nachos and taste average; small quantity. Same pricey for Meat and Melt truck but at least they had an insane variety of dishes ranging from burgers to fish n chips to Hawaiian plate. Burger patty for sure from Costco across the street.
They got covered tables and stations to wash hands. So that’s good. I think everyone here just have mellow vibe and give the good review because either they just arrive in Maui or are in that Hawaii...
