Max's Barbershop — Local services in Maynard

really disappointed. scheduled a haircut for my son at 1:15pm and arrived 5 minutes earlier. At 1:30pm still waiting and watched as new customers walked in and were helped before us without any acknowledgement to our situation. I asked why we weren't being helped despite having an appointment at 1:15pm and was simply told that we would be helped shortly later. I know 15 minutes (which was 20 minutes when we left) doesnt seem like much but it really screwed us up. I had to get back to work and would be late for an important meeting and consequently my 9 year old son, who was really excited for the scheduled "tapered fade", was crushed that we had to leave without getting the haircut. This would have been our first time at Max's. I hate to leave a bad review but there is no website or email to communicate this...

Nice, family run barbershop, has become my new go-to place to get a haircut. Prompt service, good cut, straight razor neck cleanup (which many won't want or need, but for those of us with short cuts and, how shall I put this, the curse of the Mediterranean (lots of hair, in places where many people do not have hair), it's a critical part of any haircut). While I was there, a woman with three sons was having their hair cut; the (male) barber was doing a great job of handling the 4 year old getting a cut (he had nappy hair, and needed a pick to get his hair to a place where it could get cut; barber did a great job of both cutting his hair and helping him through the discomfort of the hair pick). Meanwhile the other (female) barber cut my hair and did a terrific job....

I had heard great things about Max, so I decided this was where to go for my 1 year old son's first haircut! We stopped in without making an appointment first and wasn't necessarily expecting he could take us. I was beyond impressed! My son wasn't too thrilled with the process, and even with him sitting on my lap...crying and squirming quite a bit...Max was incredibly patient. He gave my baby boy the most perfect haircut, SO MUCH BETTER than what I had described to him, and the price was shockingly reasonable for what he does. He was very kind to fit us in between a few other appointments, and while waiting I was able to witness his quality of work. Max is very talented and I was happy with our experience overall.
