I went to Michael's looking for some art supplies. I was interested in finding some oil paints, brushes, mediums, and canvas. On the plus side, I found most of what I was looking for...eventually. on the down side, their fine arts supplies are laid out poorly. Acrylic brushes near oil paints, inconsistency of display for level 1, 2, and 3 oil paints supplies and a general lack of cohesion for where items were shelved. As an example. On top of this, there was nobody around when I looked to answer questions I had about the selections. Finally, and this is more of an irritant that was amplified because of my other issues at the store, the cart I had stopped turning right halfway through my trip in the store. I almost ran into two other people fighting it to get my goods to the check out. I let the cashier know they should take the cart out of service (not kidding, it was that bad) and she laughed and said, yeah we do but they keep getting back out. Not acceptable. Anyway, I hope the professional grade oils I bought are worth the expense and aggravation I experienced...
Read moreI recently took a large (completed) puzzle of a place that has special meaning to me (and that was done by my 92 year old mother) to Michael's in McHenry for framing. Because of the 2 factors I just mentioned, I wanted the framed item to be just perfect, as this will be a special keepsake. Cindy was the designer who helped me pick out the perfect frame. She took her time and tried numerous "looks" until we both said "that's it!" She also began the framing process, and then Terri completed it. Their work was flawless! It was obvious they took the time to do an absolutely superb job. I was so pleased when I picked my beautiful keepsake up - one week earlier than originally stated! I would highly recommend utilizing Michael's (and Cindy and Terri!) for all your...
Read moreThe Saturday manager has a permanent sour look on her face. She was rude to an employee who was helping us, and prior to that passed us several times as we weaved the aisles to find something. Not one offer to help. It is normal in customer service to ask if someone needs help even if they haven't asked. It shows attentiveness. Customer service is named customer service for a reason. Kudos to the nice girl who helped us buy a floor model. To top it off the manager chose to have a long talk with an Amazon returns customer right at the end of the checkout aisle. I stood there for a couple minutes before I said, excuse us, and she moved at a sloths pace to make way. She obviously doesn't like her customers or her staff. Otherwise, the store was clean...
