I want to start this review by saying that I love Aldi. I've been an Aldi shopper for over 20 years. I recently moved to McHenry and I have to say this is the worst Aldi I've ever been to. Despite what another review said, it is poorly laid out. The milk is at the furthest end of the store, which at the end of a large shopping trip, you won't have room in your cart. Also, the store is hot. I mean the thermostat must be set to over 76 degrees, which for a grocery store is unforgivable. If the employees are cold, put on a sweater. I don't want to feel rushed worrying about my frozen or refrigerated goods getting hot or spoiled or myself sweating whist I shop. The staff has been friendly thus far, but today the cashier started loading all of my groceries in a new cart instead of the cart I was already using. I understand when they do this to speed up checkout, but with the exception of my large items which weren't going to be unloaded, my cart was already ready and waiting. So no time was saved, but I had the awesome inconvenience of having to move all of my heavy items into a new cart for no reason whatsoever. So in summary, move your milk, turn down the thermostat, have frozen waffles, and don't give me a new cart if my original cart is ready to go. Thanks for reading, and DO shop at Aldi, because their food is great, and everywhere else is a ripoff. I'm more than happy to raise this score if any of these...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic! They stretched the building a little bit (I'm guessing 12' or so but my wife thinks closer to 15') and then they gave it a makeover fit for a Disney princess. We took our time shopping, looking over every possible option and filled up our cart to the max. (Which was 10 brown paper bags in case you find yourself in a similar situation..by the way, my wife guessed the perfect amount of paper bags for this trip...she is the best!!) We just had a terrific time looking at the plush blankets, smelling deodorant options, and anxiously awaiting what was in store for us at each turn. As we were grabbing some cereal, a little boy came running over in awe of the cereal isle. He was so excited and started hugging every box of cereal stating that they were his...it's was delightful. If you are looking for great deals, fancy new signage throughout the store, clean well oiled shopping carts (the smoothest I've pushed in years) and down to earth friendly helpful staff that will make you laugh and feel good about yourself all while ringing up your purchases, then you came to the right place. I'd give them an extra...
Read moreI find it surprising that Aldi's is as nice as it is. Although the selections are few, little name brand items, no deli, no need for liquor here and useless kitchen items overall the shopping experience is good. The store is clean and the cashiers are faster than lightening. I like the produce dept....everything is wrapped in cellophane so dozens of people have not handled the produce.....it's too bad there is not a better selection of bakery items, nor a fresh deli, but it is after all, a discount convenient store of sorts. A quarter to get a cart? Are you really still doing that??? Such an inconvenience. There are better places with better selections. Too much wasted space on a lot of junk, and the pricing although far better than say, Jewel, Aldi's would be rated higher if there were better items to select from.....overall not a bad place to shop, but not...
