Used to enjoy going to/doing business with Slackers. Unfortunately, bar a few employees, Slackers has really fallen off when it comes to pricing, selection, and customer service. Every time I walk in it's as if I just woke the pretentious staff up from their nap or interrupted their in depth conversation on why their dad is making them work in order to pay for their tricked out Honda Civic (no disrespect to Civic owners). However, when it comes to V Stock (all locations in the STL area plus OK - shout out to Randi) it's night and day. The employees greet you when you come in and are genuinely interested in what you are looking for. Not only that, they are friendly and knowledgeable and aren't afraid to make recommendations or find other options even if it means making a phone call to another store or searching their computer system. It is only $3.50 to ship something from another store and they give it back to you in store credit. And believe it or not, the area in front of the counter and throughout the store is not lava in V Stock (unlike Slackers - "Yeah, it's somewhere over on that wall"). Again, I have visited each location multiple times and I have yet to have a bad experience. In saying this, if you do visit this location please ask for Mark. This guy is a badass and embodies everything listed above. His experience in this industry as well as music in general is staggering and he is a wealth of knowledge. Look forward to picking his brain on certain bands and artists when I end up in this particular store. They are lucky...

Most items they will give you $0.01, Yes- that's right, one penny. I took a bunch of my newer, more valuable books over there around Xmas time, They offered me $2.85 for everything. I told them "No Thanks, and I would take them home." They stolen all my valuable books and give me all the cheap books back. And, They didn't know where they went. STORE OF THIEVES WORKING HERE. I don't recommend selling anything here. Bad workers. Bad Management. Will be talking to BBB now. There are better options elsewhere. Here are some better options- DONATING FOR PROFIT If you're only selling items to make room and don't need the cash right away, you would do much better donating to Savers or Goodwill and using the tax right off. Even if you don't do itemization on your taxes, you still get up to $300 right off on standard deductions. For more information, see goodwill donation estimation site, or talk to your tax person before donating, so you know what to document. If you're in need cash now, Try- HALF PRICED BOOKS. Read moreHate to say it but this particular location has finally drawn it's last straw with me. Just do not go there to buy Magic the Gathering or any other ccg there unless you want to be there all day.
They keep everything behind a case which is typical but do not have my one there to assist you so you wait. Today I was told that I could not look at a box because someone else ( who I don't know ) was looking at a binder . I was left with the impression by his statement he was only going to put one thing out at a time that they have some sort of theft issue going on and that everyone is suspect.
Bill wasn't about to let me get anything while this other fellow could get whatever he wanted and I was expected to have to stand and wait ( 20 minutes later the guy was still at the counter) until he was done or " share " looking at the same item ( nevermind that I don't know this other guy and you want me to be all up close to him ).
Obviously Bill doesn't want to deal with that aspect of the store on this day or any other. I shouldn't have to beg to be waited on and seem to have to on every prior visit. I don't have hours to wait or feel comfortable making other people wait while I look through things when there is no real cause, other than you think I might lift some cards from you which is just insulting.
Been to the other v stock and it's...
