Do not come to this place on a Saturday night.

I'll start by saying the drinks were pretty good, a little pricey, but I'm visiting from another big city so it's a typical rooftop drink price. The ambiance and decor was cute. Gratuity is automatically included in your bill, which is smart because none of this staff deserved a tip.

I usually am very empathetic to restaurant staff especially in today's times where everyone seems to be short staffed.

But this place was understaffed and did not have a plan on how to manage the capacity of the bar on a Saturday night. We waited about 30 minutes to even be acknowledged by a waiter after we flagged him down. We were told by the waiter, Tucker, that he doesn't have the capacity to serve us and I quote "I just can't do this" and that we needed to order at the bar inside (we were sitting outside, we weren't told at the outside bar that we could order food inside, only that the server would take orders). Tucker continued to wait on only one table the rest of our time here.

The bartenders inside told us that 2 people called out today which is understandable but the entire staff needs to be on the same page about directives they're giving customers. The bartenders inside told us two different things about ordering food. One told us that it would be brought out to us and the other told us that we had to come back up to the bar to grab our food when we were done in approximately 25-30 minutes.

Maybe this would be a great experience if it weren't a busy Saturday night, other than that take your...

Located on the rooftop of Hyatt Centric Beale St. On a Tuesday when I arrived in town it was relaxed and very few patrons which was fine after a long day of travel. I was informed by my bartender Wonderful, that on Thursdays they have a band and Friday &Saturdays a DJ. I found this to be a great way to have nightlife experiences without leaving the hotel. Thursday night the crowd was nice and the band was really nice. Friday was over crowded, standing room only and the temps that evening were way too high and the humidity was too much to enjoy the rooftop outdoor space. The DJ played a good variety of tunes during the time I was there. The views of the river are undeniably breathtaking. Wonderful on Thursday was very informative and friendly!. What I wasn't expecting nor could I understand the policy of an automatic 20% service charge automatically added to the check. I know that is industry standard in the event a tab is left open and card left behind at closing, or for larger parties. I was a solo patron so I was a bit taken aback by this. If you visit, go early and during a weekday evening. Also, kitchen closes an hour...

The bar itself is very lovely but my issue is with the employee in charge of letting people into the bar. I was wearing an emerald satin cocktail dress (very similar in style to the one in the pic I added, but just a thicker fabric and more structured), heels, and a trench coat. He told me to open up the trench coat, which I did, and then proceeded to tell me that he’ll let me through but that I should keep it closed. I found him very rude but I wasn’t too off put by him until I saw him let people who weren’t following the dress code through. I talked with my friends afterward and one told me that she was turned away on her birthday because of her dress. I then talked to some other friends who were let through wearing crop tops (which they list as prohibited). The thing that my friend that got turned away and I share is that we’re both Asian, while the rest were of other ethnicities. Idk if this is just a weird coincidence but it just really rubbed me...
