The restaurant is beautiful and for my first time there, I really anticipated wonderful food and service. However I was sadly and embarrassingly disappointed. I hoped for the salmon but wasn’t informed that they were out until I attempted to place my order, that happens so I understood . My second choice was the shrimp and mushroom pasta and upon looking at the menu prior to, I knew I also wanted the sautéed spinach and sautéed mushrooms. I really couldn’t wait to enjoy two of my favs! When the food arrived the presentation was elite , I was super excited. The disappointment came when each dish I ordered was overly seasoned with salt and drenched in oil. I requested to swap out the sides for broccoli and mashed potatoes since to me, they were the next best thing. I mentioned my dissatisfaction with my entree and was only slightly remedied with the suggestion of removing the sides that I ordered. I did state that each dish I ordered was overly seasoned and with me only taking one bite, LITERALLY ONE bite of the pasta, the operation manager Brian said that he would not take the pasta off and would be happy to box it up for me. He patronized me by bringing the pasta to the table in the box after I told him I did not want the pasta at all. If I didn’t like the pasta at the restaurant, I’m not going to like it anywhere else. The box is not going to remove the displeasure of the meal. He refused to take it off of my ticket and insisted I paid full price for a dish I didn’t enjoy at all, taking one bite and not including any of the shrimp. The dish was taken back and boxed up with nearly the same presentation as it was brought to me with every shrimp accounted for in the recipe. We had a party of 8 guests, each ordering several drinks, appetizers, salads, steaks, chicken and more. Paying for the food wasn’t an issue. I would’ve ordered a replacement meal so I wouldn’t have to leave still hungry and discontent but we were on a time schedule and I’m sure the kitchen was coming to a close and it was never asked if I wanted anything else instead.I did enjoy my Caesar salad though, my egg rolls, and the broccoli! Brian really treated me as though I had no other choice but to eat the food I was displeased with. He refused to give me the contact name and information of someone I could talk to/ or owner since it was a small business and not corporate worthy to verify the policy on food that he said was made to a strict recipe. Why wasn’t anything else I ordered overly seasoned with oil and salt if the chef followed the recipe directly? Brian also threatened to call the police for refusing to pay for the pasta that I didn’t indulge in. Wow ! I informed him that my mother, along with my father and aunt are MPD and Shelby Co. Sheriff so I would be prepared for the call. He attempted to trigger me to act in a way that would be an embarrassment to myself, being Black and to my family. I did not.I did speak my mind, like telling him that he should button his shirt completely to cover the visual hairs on his chest in a 4.5 star restaurant. What an example! Operations Managers should be dressed as such. I am leaving this review for the service and the food. Please double check the recipe to see how much salt and oil is used in preparing such beautiful and...
Read moreI hosted a birthday lunch for my daughter's friend there on October 1st. When I made the reservation, I was told that if I no showed without cancelling I would be charged $25. The dinner was schedule to start at 2pm, I arrived on time but my daughter, her friend, and my mother were late due to my grandson. They reluctantly allowed me to set up the table before they arrived with the cake and tablecloths. While waiting Laura and Paige accosted me as I had committed a crime and said that if they did not arrive shortly that I would be charged $25 per person for each no show. I explained that I was told that it would be one fee of $25 and asked why it they were approaching me in the manner they did when the restaurant was essentially empty. I believe there were perhaps 4 other tables with people in the entire restaurant and 3 seated tables outside. They said they were expecting another large party at 5pm and the staff had to take a break before the dinner crowd. I explained that we only planned to be there until 4pm or 4:30pm and would be gone by then. They agreed to let me keep the 2 tables. However, by this time the rest of the party were parking. I was extremely upset with the way they approached me. I could understand if the restaurant was filled to capacity and people were waiting to be seated but there was no one waiting to be seating and only 1 additional table had been seated from 1:55pm - 2:45pm. Fortunately the food was good and the server Chloe was friendly and provided good service. When I got the check there was a $10 cake fee, that no one had ever mentioned before. Chloe went to talk to the manager and had it removed. By this time, I was livid. Before I left, I spoke to the manager and explained my concerns with the way I was treated about 2 tables in a pretty empty restaurant. By the time I finished talking to her it was approximately 5:30pm and no large party had arrived, and the restaurant was still empty. Laura and Paige were rude, lacked basic customer service and critical thinking skills. Imagine two managers in a restaurant walking up on you like they were the police about a late party in a empty restaurant. It made absolutely no sense. If your restaurant is filled with empty tables, why are you even pressed about a late party of 6 and why would you try to slide in a $10 cake fee???? Laura and Paige are probably the reason they were empty. The manager was nice, but I would NEVER go to this...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at The Majestic Grille during my first visit to Memphis, and I must say, it was an experience to remember! Located conveniently in downtown Memphis, right off of Beale Street, this restaurant truly captures the essence of the city's vibrant atmosphere. But what made my visit truly exceptional was the outstanding service provided by Alison, our amazing server.
Alison greeted us with a warm smile and that sweet southern charm that instantly made us feel welcome. Throughout the evening, she went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. Her attentiveness, knowledge of the menu, and genuine care for our satisfaction were truly commendable.
Now, let me tell you about the food! I ordered the Shrimp and Mushroom Linguini paired with a French Rosé, and it was a culinary delight. The pasta was cooked to perfection, and the combination of succulent shrimp and flavorful mushrooms was a match made in heaven. The highlight, though, was the Alfredo sauce—it was absolutely delicious, creamy, and packed with mouthwatering flavors. Each bite was a delightful explosion of taste.
I have to say, the combination of Alison's exceptional service and the delectable linguini made this visit truly memorable. The Majestic Grille has left a lasting impression on me, and I will definitely be returning. In fact, I'll be crossing my fingers and hoping that Alison will have the opportunity to serve me again. Her professionalism, friendliness, and genuine enthusiasm for her job were a big part of why I'll remember Memphis and The Majestic Grille.
If you're looking for a dining experience that embodies the true spirit of Memphis and offers exceptional service, delicious food, and a charming ambiance, I highly recommend visiting The Majestic Grille.
