The Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art is an incredible hidden gem in Memphis. As I walked through the exhibits, I was struck by the diversity and beauty of the art on display. The museum features an extensive collection of Asian art, including pieces from China, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia, as well as a large collection of Judaic art, including works from ancient to modern times.
The Asian collection includes a wide range of mediums, from traditional ink paintings and porcelain pottery to contemporary sculptures and installations. The museum's collection of Judaic art is equally impressive, featuring a diverse range of objects, including religious texts, ceremonial objects, and fine art.
What I found most impressive about the museum was the way it seamlessly blends different cultures and time periods. The curators have done a wonderful job of creating a cohesive narrative that highlights the similarities and differences between the two cultures and how they have influenced each other over time.
The Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art is a unique and enlightening experience. It offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the art, culture, and history of two vastly different regions of the world. I highly recommend visiting this museum for anyone interested in art, culture, and history.

Read moreVenue selling Valentine's day special tickets on Groupon to a closed venue that is advertising on their Groupon page as OPEN.
We bought two tix, drove an hour and a half, paid too much to park, then walked about 10 minutes through a dangerous part of town just to find out the place is closed. I called the museum about this while standing outside, and informed them that their Groupon page shows them OPEN and selling tickets, and stated to them that it appears misleading. If I had known they were closed, I obviously would not have bought tickets and drove almost two hours to visit. The lady on the phone just said "nothing I can do about it"; she didn't seem concerned.
UPDATE 3 DAYS LATER: At this very moment, The Belz Museum Groupon page lists them as OPEN in BOLD TEXT, clearly displaying a list of days and hours indicating they are open every day of the week, and currently selling bogus tickets to their closed museum. Anyone can go there rduring business hours and see they are "open", and buy a ticket believing the ticket can be used that day.
It is not the public's duty to double-check to see if you are falsely advertising on one platform but stating the...
Read moreThis was my first Asian Art museum. And because of parenting duties, I was only able to see the Chinese side of the museum. I missed the Holocaust and Jewish side, so keep that in mind while reading the review. Setting was in a great location downtown. We parked in the garage almost directly across from the entrance to the museum building. The museum is in the basement so no windows and a little less inviting. The art was amazing. The description plaques were educational. Most of what was there was statues and figurines, not paintings. The gift shop, though small, had items that interested my whole family of 7. I did not do the written tour, nor audio tour, nor guided tour. When I come back without little children, I will be purchasing these. The price was below expected for entrance, tours, and gift shop. What this tells me is that the owners of the collection are just trying to share their love for Asian art. I was told by an employee that the art on display was 6-8% of what was owned so I should come back every 6-12 months to see some new items. In addition to low prices, we actually got a Groupon for this that was...
