October 1, 2024 - My wife and I only had 1/2 day in Memphis and tried to make the most of our time . . . Lunch at B.B. King’s Club , then an hour at the Memphis Music Hall of Fame !

The Memphis Music Hall of Fame is a “work in Progress”! With only 12 years in existence, there’s a lot to see, experience, and enjoy . . . over time more can be presented to the public in Blues, Soul, Gospel, Country, Rock , Hip-Hop, and Jazz music!

Would be nice for founders & museum sponsors to “ brainstorm” how to group artifacts, memorabilia, musical interactive activities into the types of music categories .

Probably need a bigger building, maybe one floor per type of music? ( Suggestion)

Also chronological approach might help ? ( suggestion)

As we walked around , we recognized some of the artists , and learned of many artists we didn’t know. The guitars, recording equipment, 1/2 a car, stage costumes, and photos were very interesting!

This museum is open 7 days a week, 10 am to 5 pm . . . Adults are $8 each, children $6 . The museum established in 2012, with the actual building opening its doors in 2015. There are restrooms available. The exhibits are on the 2 nd floor.

As you walk through the exhibits, look for

B.B. King , ZZ Top Isaac Hayes , Johnny Cash. Ottis Reading , Blackwood Brothers Carla Thomas, Memphis Slim Al Green, Big Star Carl Perkins, Ann Peeples Roy Orbinson, Charles Lloyd Charlie Rich, Aretha Franklin

And...

I went to the Memphis music hall of fame yesterday and it was an amazing experience. Everything was so clean, they greeted us as soon as we stepped through the door. They were very nice and friendly. It is $8 per person. You can take an elevator to get to the hall of fame or you can climb up steps. It's a pretty easy walk up the steps. You get to the second floor and it's on the left. You walk in and instantly hit with some pretty cool stuff. There's a bench to sit on behind the ramp. There's bathrooms and water fountains down a hallway leading to some more stuff. You go up the ramp and are immediately hit with Memphis music history. From Elvis, three 6 mafia, and so many more. It's a great experience and I would recommend coming here. It's a blast learning about Memphis...

The idea for the Museum is good and there were a few cool exhibits, but I have a few gripes: One thing is that the majority of the headphones located at the exhibits only had one working earphone! Suprising for a New Museum 2say the least. Also, all of the videos looped at each location, not necessarily pertaining to that exhibit... and you couldn't restart them, so if u walked up on a segment u found interesting u would have had 2wait 15 minutes or so for it 2 restart... Aggrivating!

Maybe I missed it, but I did not see any list of the inductees of the Memphis Music Hall of fame either... dissapointing.

If u really want 2spend 8 or 10 dollars to get some good memphis music history do yourself a favor and checkout the STAX ROCK AND SOUL MUSEUM...Way better...
