The Crystal Shrine Grotto is small and quaint. It was man made in the 1900s. Once you cross a tiny bridge, the area consists of a pond with a fountain, a chain locked cavern, a stump called Abrahams Oak, a small grassy area called God's Garden perfect for a picnic, and of course the Grotto itself. The entryway is narrow and uneven, so if you have anyone with any mobility issues, it might be difficult if not impossible to get into the grotto itself. It is very dark, and some lights were either turned off or burnt out. The darkness near the back of the crystal cave was a little creepy. At least the baby Jesus was there when we went on 9/25/21! I preferred the outside sections compared to the crystal cave. The stump was the highlight for me and my family. It was shaded, had instrumental hymn music playing and felt very relaxing. It is located inside a cemetery, and there are funerals here several times a day. While it's a nice place to visit, it's also important to be mindful of others who might be there for a very...
Read moreThis is a pretty interesting place, albeit in the middle of a cemetery. You may need to use GPS to find the structure as there did not seem to be any signs indicating the location. The small pond was quite green as there is little water movement and it did or seem to be cleaned for quite sometime. Interestingly, I did spot a few large koi. The small cave is lined with different scenes from the Bible, mainly from the life of Jesus. I was personally more interested in the crystal structures build, each different for each scene. The cavern ceiling is pretty low at some points so taller people may have to bend. Overall this is a pretty beautiful place worth checking out if you are not off put by...
Read moreY'all. I am a lover of words and generally gifted in my turns of phrase. NOTHING. And I mean nothing will prepare you for this. I'm not including any pictures of the inside because I do not want to spoil your initial gasp of wonder and pupil dilation as you struggle to take it all in. The moment I stepped inside was legitimately gasp worthy. And I did. I am still in awe. We took our time and drank in every detail... took copious pictures on our phones... and just gaped at the incredible skill and heart on display all around us among the glittering crystals. I cannot recommend enough that you visit immediately if not sooner....
