Buyer Beware. The owner of this establishment Ragan is unprofessional and manipulative. I initially met with Ragan on 12/28/2023. We discussed the details of my event which would take place on today 01/28/2024. When I left the meeting Ragan advised she would email the contract to look over and sign. I kept calling and texting and finally received the contract the next day. At this point I did not have a good feeling about the service but proceeded since mom requested this restaurant. When I received the contract, I went back to the facility and went over everything again with Ragan. I was given two menu choices one was brunch and the other was 2 meats and a vegetable. I paid my deposit and signed the contract contingent upon my menu selection. I let her know that I would make my menu selection once I conferred with my mom and siblings since this was a 75th Birthday Party for my mom given by myself and sibilings. Ragan told me that was fine, and I had until January 5, 2024, to make my selection along with the first half of my payment for the food. I called on Jan 5, 2024, made the 1st half of the payment ($412.00) and gave my order of Salmon, baked chicken, mashed potatoes, and punch. We had a thorough conversation she acted as if she was taking notes, we even discussed her son breaking his arm at school. Fast forward to today the birthday party. I spent most of the day decorating and fine tuning my program. I did not think I had to worry about the food since that was thoroughly discussed. Around the time we were about to eat my nephew came over and asked where was the salmon? I told him everything was on the bar. He said it was not. I thought he was joking. I went over to view the meal and found that the meal was brunch food and not the salmon and baked chicken discussed. I told the cook that this was not the meal I paid for. He quickly got Ragan on the phone. I expressed to Ragan that we signed up for Salmon and baked chicken not a brunch. She told me my contract said Brunch. This was clearly incorrect as I explained what we agreed upon on 1/05/24. She then stated that she made a mistake but there was nothing she could do. I asked could she at least make the Salmon she told me there was nothing she could do. She did not offer anything not even a genuine apology. I did not want to ruin the remainder of the party so I got off the phone until I could calm down and gather my thoughts. After my guest left, I had the cook to call Ragan back to ask for a concession for the mistake made regarding the food. This lady had the nerve to tell me if I did not like the food just like at a restaurant, I should have refused it and not accepted it. I reminded her that she told me there was nothing she could do regarding providing the order I paid for not to mention I had a room full of guest who were ready to eat. She then proceeded to say that people ate the food. Mam the issue is the food prepared was not what I ordered. Salmon is way different than a brunch. Instead of being apologetic she became defensive and unprofessional. She said she would not give a concession for her mistake. I knew at this point that this was intentional the Salmon cost more, so she wanted to play dumb to make an additional profit. We ended the call, at this point my sister and other siblings were upset about the issue and began to discuss it. I assume the cook told her about our conversation. The cook came out and handed me the phone again stating Ragan wanted to speak back to me. I answered and this lady had the nerve to say I know you are upset but you need to be quiet and get out of the building. I had about 40 minutes left before I was supposed to leave, we were still gathering our things and cleaning up. This lady is a shyster she did not offer an apology, a concession and then asked me to leave before my contracted departure time. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PERCH 74. YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF AND...
Read moreI saw Perch 74 on Live at Nine this morning and had to stop by. The service was warm and welcoming. Jordan and Elise were friendly and attentive, making the experience even better.
I tried the Pan Seared Salmon Sliders with remoulade, bacon, lettuce and tomato, and the Beef Birriadilla with cheese, avocado salsa, and sour cream. Both were absolutely delicious. The fries were perfectly seasoned, and the chocolate chip cookies were the perfect sweet ending.
I also met Chef Rogan, whose passion for fresh, handcrafted food really shines through. I learned about the Purpose and Calls program, a partnership with the City of Memphis and Mayor Paul Young. It provides youth with summer jobs, training, and valuable experience through businesses like Perch 74. It’s a wonderful program that benefits the youth and the community.
I’m looking forward to coming back for Soul Food Mondays. Great food, great service, and a great mission. Perch 74...
Read moreThis restaurant is a hidden gem. I decided to go after seeing their mouth watering crab roll on IG. Unfortunately, the crab roll wasn’t available when I arrived, but the wonderful chef heard my disappointment and suggested that I try the catfish. Oh my, she didn’t disappoint…the catfish was cooked to perfection…perfectly seasoned—not greasy or soggy. First time in my life that I didn’t need hot sauce nor tartar sauce applied to my fish. It was delicious as well as the French fries and cold slaw. Major kudos to the chef(s). Everyone associated with this establishment is so courteous and professional and you feel they appreciate your business. I will definitely be returning for the lobster rolls and...
