My cousin and I shop at this store a lot and we find really good bargains. We have never experienced any negativity but we do notice the lack of attention that is given to people of color. We kinda look over it and just continue to shop. Well on June 6,2023, I brought in another one of my cousins so she could look at the Louie Vuitton purses. We were never acknowledged by anyone so we just started looking around. I found a few items to try on so I went to the dressing room. My cousin was looking at some reading glasses and picked up a mirror to look at herself at a different angle and a lady hollered at her and told her to put the mirror down and it was not for sale. Well this got everyoneâs attention in the store and made my cousin feel embarrassed and made her feel really small. I couldnât believe that the lady acted like that. As I said before, we spend a lot of money in Sugar Plum and I never would have thought that they would treat someone like that. It made us feel that we, people of color, are not welcomed in the store. This is just a consignment store!!! So it was nice while it lasted but my family will not be back. There are other consignment stores in Memphis and we can shop around until we find another that actually welcomes ...
Read moreThis consignment store is very nice! Melissa is always nice and personable when she's visible in the store. A few employees that work there have no personality at all. I am a consignor at this establishment. Therefore, I am aware of what items this store accepts and does not accept! I consign nice, gently used, and/or never worn items. Each time I've consigned with Donna (the short lady w/blond hair), she denies my items for a small scratch or some other excuse. She is the only employee who does this. If you challenge her with questions or ask about BADLY worn and/or scratched items that are displayed in the store, she tries to justify it with a poor excuse! When making an appointment to consign, be sure NOT to consign with her unless you're her pick, if you know what I mean consignors. Behind her fake smile is ....... She picks and chooses who she accepts items from. I gave 3 stars because of the employee, Donna (the short lady w/blonde hair) and the dry personalities of a (few)employees. Take notice, consignors! Update: Melissa no longer owns this establishment. My views are still the same excluding a very few nice employees. That other one is ruining...
Read moreLadies, don't get me wrong they have nice things here! I took a pair of new worn Gucci because I was just cleaning my closet out and did not want to just throw the shoes away. So, since I have bought several items from Sugar Plum I decided to give them a try of selling my brand new Gucci shoes. The shoes cost me about $350 and I just wanted to at least get about $100-150 for the shoes. Well, Sugar Plum is not fair because they listed the shoe for about $130 I believe then they starting saying they had a sell and marked the shoe down. Then they said they had another sell again and I couldn't believe and want believe they sold my brand new Gucci shoes for about $40-60 dollars. I would have done better standing on the corner with a table of my shoes and would have gotten more for them. Ebay was my first choice and will be my next choice. I repeat do not consign with them or you will lose...
