.I'm giving 4 stars for the flavor and atmosphere and everyone was nice on my first and only visit inside. However My first encounter with this establishment. I'd ordered "to go" salmon meals twice and enjoyed the flavor. I didn't like that they are the "ONLY" restaurant I've ordered from that attached their version of extra fees and without telling you ahead of time. But put a footnote on the receipt of what they're for, like that justifies it. Being charged a take out fee, a container fee, and gratuity already included on a single meal. I order and eat from restaurants all around the city daily, they are the ONLY one I've encountered doing all of this together. I know covid has caused issues all around but to charge a take out fee when I'm either driving to pick it up or having it delivered that was really unwelcomed and a little over the top to me. Then to charge for the container as well, really come on?! Is that not part of doing business or is this bordering on sly price gouging?? Taking advantage when again there's no notice or informing beforehand. So I decided to visit to eat in person for the first time. Thinking I'll remove their need for extra fees. And I'll get to see the atmosphere. I will say everyone was very nice, the restaurant was very nice as well, atmosphere included. My waiter was helpful when he was around, he disappeared for periods of time and I needed him. So another server standing near the kitchen entrance who saw me constantly looking came over and she helped me. I needed to send back my Salmon it wasn't done. It would've been perfect I guess for sushi, but I like mine cooked through, and even when she brought it back (waiter came and missing again) my Salmon could've used some more time, I just dealt with it, thinking I could either take it home and finish cooking or deal with it. The flavor was still good just not completely cooked through, took my chances and decided 3 strikes you're out. I tipped my missing waiter who by this time I saw that he was hustling all around. When I signed my check, I made a joke and said the pen writes nice, since the restaurant name is on it, is this my souvenir, to which he replied, "Oh no, sorry, I would but they keep count and charge us for those." He wasn't joking. I thought Wow! I already was thinking for what came on my plate and what I paid, it was pricy and I must be paying for atmosphere.
So in conclusion (The Salmon Feast) at Tazikis Restaurant in Germantown for a great grilled Salmon dinner where I get bang for my buck is my winner.. It's always very flavorful, cooked through, a nice size and comes with salad and roasted potatoes and with tip included cost less than what I'm charged and what I received whether dine in or take out with extra...
Read moreI have been a fan of Amerigo since the day they opened the doors. Until last night!! My date and I had reservations for 8pm and were seated at a bar booth because that is what we requested. We had a server who was still in training, which wasn't an issue. We ordered Proseco which is $10 per glass. Price wasn't an issue. The issue was having the server place 2 empty glasses and 2 UNOPENED 8 ounce bottles of Proseco on the table and walk away. We just looked at each other. I had a brand new manicure and he has carpel tunnel. Neither of us wanted to peel off foil and twist off tops and then pour our own drinks. Not when we were paying $10 bucks each for a single glass!! I had never seen this before. When we finally got our servers attention and asked him to open and pour he said that wasn't how he was trained. But, he opened the bottles and began to pour the sparkling Prosseco into the glass without even touching the glass to tilt it. It bubbled up and over the rim of the glass and spilled on the table. At this point I took over and just said "Let me do it" because I am a server. I'm not some snotty critic but I know what good service is. Moving on. The salads we ordered were amazing as usual. We tend to order the same things so we know when something is or is not right. My date ordered the Cedar Plank Roasted Chilean Sea Bass and it was phenomenal. I ordered the Veal Saltimbocca with polenta and spinach. It came out looking like something from a cafeteria. The polenta had been scooped with an ice cream scoop and was a round blob on the plate and it didn't move. It looked just like a scoop of mashed potatoes or vanilla ice cream. Polenta should be velvety and creamy. The veal looked like 2 overly fried eggrolls with WAY too much of the tomato brown sauce covering them. I sawed through one and attempted to chew a bite with minimal success. It was extremely over cooked. I gave up and immediately sent it back. I am frustrated by now. I had a bite or two of my date's meal and we just asked for the check. I'm not going to say I am DONE with the place but I don't understand how quality of food and service can change so drastically in a matter of months since our last visit. It's so disheartening when you really love a place and are excited for a date night and then it is such a let down. Thumbs down...
Read moreI've gone to Amerigo's several times, usually with another couple. Last night was a special birthday night and it was just horrible. My husband told the waiter it was my birthday and the service only got worse. The bruschetta, which we always order and is usually very good was thick pieces of bread with a bunch of tomatoes thrown on it. If there was any sauce on the bread or spices on it, it was not evident. Two of us usually order the salmon and last night it was so greasy that my husband could not tolerate it. Personally, I didn't think the salmon had been properly cooked, it looked raw and greasy. My shrimp scampi was just bad. The pasta was lumped and literally had no flavor. I When asked if I wanted cheese, I said yes to try to get some flavor. Eventually, someone came with cheese. Finally halfway through the meal, I asked the waiter could we have some bread with dinner, which had not been brought to the table at that point. After 10 minutes, he brought out a saucer with 4 small hard slices of bread and another ten minutes later he brought out a saucer with the oil and pepper. When we finished and the table was cleared, it was evident we didn't eat the dinner but we were not asked about it. My husband's entire dinner was barely touched. I asked for a to- go box for the pasta knowing my dogs would maybe eat it and I'd put the shrimp tails off to the side. When I got home to feed my dogs, the shrimp tails were mixed in with the pasta. Clearly, whoever just didn't care. After many, many years going there, I'm done. There is no excuse for the disaster because our foursome has had the same meal many times. The restaurant wasn't full so that was not an excuse. The meal was awful, the service was bad and therefore it was all overpriced. At least the table near us also had a birthday and she was given a nice little desert. I guess that's something you have to ask for which is a little strange for a halfway nice restaurant. I certainly was not offered anything. Oh well, happy birthday to me...
