That one guy who always wears a 3-piece suit , & carrying a Bible & even rosary beads is over-the-top ! Can't he lighten up a little bit ? This is CA not NYC. And it's a monastery with mostly nuns. It's low-key. No special effects or fancy furniture etc. not even an organ or piano .
The fancy suit doesn't fit. The fancy suit would fit in much better over at the Catholic church about 100 -yds away on the other side of the street.
I used to go there but there's always the same people who put you down on the pecking order. Those are the people he would fit in well with. They like to be there every single service in the same spot everyday.
And it's more of a fancy setting where fancy suits fit in & you can work your way in that way via the " pecking order". With his habitual ritual he could rise to the top pretty quick . Plus, this church is more of the local " homeowners church" for people who've been here for many years.
I think this guy would fit in better there. I wonder if he's ever gone there. In fact this kind of guy is the type you want to be a DEACON. But he does have one fault: he comes in late quite often. Sometimes even at the very end of mass.
Whatever the case may be doesn't look like he's ever going to move on. But if he does see this, I hope he takes time to go look at the other church across the street. And if he is sincere about his Catholicism I hope he inquires about becoming a DEACON. It's time for him to MOVE UP. NOT STAGNATE.
And I hope he carries his faith out into the world and does evangelism and brings the good news to others ✝️❤️🙏. I hope the sum of his faith is not just being at the same church every day...
Read moreThe heavyweight has a new tactic: he comes in at the very last moment. But I still leave when he comes in. There's something UNNATURAL about him. Something OFF. I would actually like to see a rule made that people CAN'T attend Mass every single day. Because for some HABITUAL ATTENDEES it's no longer a HEART ❤️ habit. it's a ritual : nothing is changing in the person. They're just GOING THRU THE MOTIONS and the mass lacks meaning (for them) (& drives some others away, like me). It's too legalistic which is a major turnoff to me. I come to mass for a genuine authentic experience, not a ritual. Nor a perfect attendance certificate. It's good but there's one "heavyweight" wearing a full suit (the same suit) and always arrives late and never takes the Eucharist/host/communion. He clearly has an agenda but is it in accord with the communion and body of Christ⁉️How long do you give a perpetual visitor/observer to "come around" ⁉️Is he trying to dominate us? Assert superiority? I'm wondering if he comes from a different religion and is just using the monastery for self -serving purposes? Anyways, when he comes in, I go out. I'll be back in a year to see if he's still doing his daily ritual at the monastery.
And there's nothing anybody can do: he's perfect, at least on the outside. makes no noise, seems to be kneeling in prayer etc. But what about inside? What will Jesus say ⁉️ what about Pride ? What about Evangelism outside the church walls? What about legalistic Ritualism ? What about a " White...
Read moreThe guy at mass every day in the POWER SUIT is making the mistake of thinking he can be justified with God by perfect attendance at Mass. A lot of people go thru such a phase & then they (hopefully ) eventually realize this is not going to ultimately help them be justified with God- just by perfect attendance and being exceptionally well dressed, WITHOUT a change of heart ❤️ and service to God. And a change of heart will lead to wanting to deliver others from sin by being an evangelist of the gospel the good news of Jesus ✝️Christ. This will lead to HARDSHIP, because you will need to become an evangelist in one way or another and that usually DOESN'T mean financial success and the praise of others, especially in Silicon Valley💰. It's about the heart ❤️ young man, not externalities. As Jesus said to the Rich Young Man "Are you willing to sell everything and follow me ⁉️". Unfortunately the rich young man walked away sadly. He wasn't willing.
But if he does insist on going this route, he would be happier at the church down the street not at the monastery where there are humble nuns singing Acapella on one side and the priest is dressed in a humble garment & most people are just simple and...
