If you can manage to do your own research on sporting goods, I would recommend doing so. The store clerks know no more than you would off the street.
The store clerk was unaware of the safety certification for skating helmets (ASTM F1492). He said as far as he knew any bike helmet would also be fine for skating. He also did not know what ABT brakes were on inline skates, but to be fair that might be some obscure information I have picked up on in my research. The lack of safety knowledge is harder to overlook.
Here is a quote from helmets.org that can be found under the section Helmets Dual Certified to Both Bike and Skateboard Standards:
"Consumers have to take special care when selecting a skateboard helmet. Some "skate style" helmets are not actually certified to a skateboard standard. If they meet the CPSC bicycle helmet standard they can legally be sold for bicycling and roller skating. Some manufacturers label their helmets for skateboarding and extreme or trick roller skating as well, but do not use the ASTM F1492 designation, so you do not know what you are getting. The ASTM skateboard standard requires a...
Read moreI have shopped here twice in the last 2 months, and both times were a let down. The first time, I went with my fiancée to find her some new shoes. I had to chase down an employee after waiting for 5+ minutes. Then after finding the gal, she was conversing with another employee and told me she'd be right with me after she was finished. I was appalled that she would be so rude and then prioritize her conversation (which was not work related) over a customer. After, she came over and got the shoes for us. She then slid the shoes down the bench to us and walked off without any further assistance.
The second time, I walk into the store and see two employees, both of whom I made eye contact with, and neither of them said hello, or came to help; instead, I found them both turn back to playing on their phones. I was not approached for the rest of my visit, and the employee who checked me out did not seem thrilled to help me.
This store always seems to have the worst customer service out of any Dicks in the Greater Kansas City area. If not some of the worst customer service in...
Read moreYOU NEED TO READ THIS. Terrible. The heavy set Assistant manager was very disrespectful and had an attitude. Saw a 25% off entire store purchase online, thought i show the cashier. She told the lady assistant manager to take a look, before she even greeted me she had a attitude and viciously started swiping through my phone without permission when i told her it was a screenshot. Then she yelled and said i cant use the 25% off because that coupon cant be used in this district. Thought I would called and have her reported. When i asked for the GENERAL/HEAD manager she answered. I didnt realize it was her until I started explaining how i went there yesterday and she interupted me and got an attitude and said âthat isnt in our districtâ. I asked her for Corporates number and she told me to call when their general manager came. I hope they write her up or get rid of her. Just sad and the worst attitude ever!...
