The food is always good and delicious when we have it for lunch at work.
It was my turn to pick up lunch this week so I went in around 12:30 to pick up our order for the time we scheduled. We placed it online earlier in the day and came in to just let them know I was there. The restaurant was busy as all restaurants are during week days at lunch time.
I waited in line and when I came up to the counter there was a lady standing there looking at a kiosk entering a order in front of me. I’m a server I understand, so taking your time to enter it into make sure the order is right. When she was done she walked away and didn’t acknowledge me. A gentleman walked up seeing that I hadn’t been helped and asked me if I wanted to order.
I let him know my job placed an online order and was letting them know I was here and if it was still working that’s okay. I told him the name of the order he looked on the kiosk and he told me there is no order by that name. I let him know I was the person to place the order earlier and after the screen said that they had confirmed the order.
He asked me what we ordered and I named off a couple of things and then said a side of sour cream. He then said oh well we don’t have sour cream on the menu so you didn’t order from us. I let him know I will call my job to confirm since I hadn’t taken a picture of the confirmation … of course! I moved outside so he can help the next person in line. Just my luck!
I called work and the sent me a text of the confirmation email sent. I came back in waited my turn and showed him the email. He looked in to the kiosk and said that he found it they had the order it was placed earlier and they are finishing it up.
I know that when you are finishing it up when you are in a rush and you are slammed since it peak lunch time that’s at least 10-15 more minutes. Also, our order was large so I didn’t mind to wait a little longer So I sat down and waited and it had been about 30 minutes and I asked the girl behind the counter if my order had came up while I was waiting. I was on my phone watching and episode and had not checked while I was waiting.
She asked the name and looked at their Togo shelf and then went to the kitchen she said they are finishing it up. I received my order after a couple of minutes. I said thank you and started to walk off and was going to ask for the refund on the sides of sour cream since we didn’t get it. If he would have said no it would be a big deal. Never hurts to check. He let me know yes it was in the bag. I was a little frustrated due to being told we don’t have sour cream and that’s how you knew we didn’t order from you. At least we received the order and the food was...

Read moreThis place is phenomenal - such a gem. We’ve been going here since we moved to Lenexa about six years ago and have never had a bad dish or experience. We don’t stray far from our favorite dishes because they’re so, so good, but every time someone we’re with gets something different, they’ve always enjoyed it.
My go-tos are the asada tacos and the carne asada y queso pupusas and my husband usually gets several pupusas. We’ll occasionally get the fried green plantains, which come with something like a salsa golf (they describe it like a fast food “special sauce”).
Don’t leave without trying one or more of the aguas frescas - our favorites are the Salvadorean horchata, guanabana, maracuya (passion fruit), and marañon (cashew fruit). We rarely order drinks at restaurants, but we always get an aguas frescas here.
Finally, when we thought we couldn’t love the place any more, they were painting a motmot mural on the wall when we went in tonight. The place isn’t fancy, but its...
