WOW !!!! I am Extremely Disappointed with My stay at the Mesa La Quinta. It was SO terrible to the point I had to leave a review with the BBB. First the key to get into the room I had to try 20 times because the door handle is broken, the carpets are old musty, and dirty & the bathroom is run down dirty and rusted, and They have plumbing issues everyday with leaks going down to the bottom floor below me and had to come inside my room multiple times for plumbing issues and kept calling me over and over again, I could not enjoy my room or stay at ALL!! The elevators are so old and slow that they're scary. The breakfast sucks, only decent part is the waffles and fruit. Those microwaved eggs and sausages are rancid. Also be prepared for random crowds and groups of people that rent out the conference room right next to the lobby every single day there is random children running around for gymnastics meets and stuff and honestly it is very uncomfortable to have to walk through random people like that every single day just to get to the office/ elevator when I'm in my bathing suit etc. trying to enjoy my stay On top of it, the employee Anna and manager Liz kept harassing me the entire time I stayed here. It was something new every day. The first time anna came banging on my door, saying that a maid complained of a weed smell in the hall, and that they thought it was coming from my room , so I asked her to come inside and smell to make sure and she said herself that it didn't smell, and there was no smoke. I explained to her that since it's recreationally legalized, which might explain a little bit of why the hall would smell if I had smoked outside and then walked inside right after , so I felt really discriminated against especially since it's medically prescribed to me. Two days later when I go to pay for my third and final night, management tells me I am required to pay a deposit for my last night-of my stay at $75 and I told her that is completely ridiculous and unnecessary since I've already been here for the entire weekend three days already and wasn't required to pay one when I checked in And they had already checked the room on top of it to make sure that I was not infact smoking in it. Apparently they discriminate and pick and choose who they want to pay a deposit so be careful with that too . This place is a hassle. It's a headache and it's very inconvenient. I will not ever be staying here again any of the hotels right next-door to this location are way better than this place. Update! I got a call to my personal number after leaving this review from Anna who asked me why I left this review ! Then the next day I just got a call while I'm still inside of the room waiting to check out from the manager that I am unable to ever come back here again or stay here again, and I'm being placed on a DNR all based on me leaving a bad review here so be careful if you guys have any type of experience here that you wanna let others know about or share you will be harassed and penalized because of it.
UPDATE: this is the only resolution I was offered from GM Liz after ALLL OF THIS HARASSMENT, discrimination AND PROBLEMS was to be called defensive for sharing my horrible experience here and nothing further from her but some fake nice words!! Another email from Liz now she’s way more concerned about my experience all of a sudden since I contacted corporate and so many different case numbers were filed of this incident and it’s funny because she already knows...
Read moreMy dad and I stayed here for three nights while visiting family in Mesa.
Pros: Convenient location, nice lobby, hot breakfast, free parking. Front-desk team member, Carnation, was very helpful.
Cons: Property is dated, no room service, electronic room lock didn't work and we were repeatedly locked out of our room. A young man at the front desk told me management is fully aware of the issue, but views it more as an "inconvenience." The front desk repeatedly reactivated our key cards, claiming that should resolve the issue. It didn't. After being locked out 5-6 times, I made a video showing me inserting the key card 50+ times, all to no avail. When I showed it to the young man at the front desk, he finally relented and said he'd put in a work order for maintenance. I asked him if we could be transferred to another room, but he said many of the other rooms had the same issue with the door locks. I reminded him that people spend their hard-earned money to stay there and being able to get into their rooms is a basic expectation. He shrugged and said putting in a work order was all he could do. Our door lock was finally repaired the afternoon before our check-out date. At that point we had been locked out of our room at least a dozen times.
Whomever owns this hotel isn't putting adequate money into maintenance and operations: hallway carpets are filthy and the hallways smelled like cigarette smoke. The elevator is very slow and has a drab gray interior with graffiti carved into the interior door. Woodwork around exterior windows is literally rotting away and exterior ashtrays were full of cigarette butts and unemptied while we were there, which meant cigarettes were the first thing we smelled whether we were entering or leaving the facility.
This is NOT a three-star hotel. There is no room service, meaning sheets are not changed and if you want fresh towels, you have to pick them up at the front desk. When I called about getting fresh sheets after two days, my request was ignored and the sheets were never changed. The same young man who told me that many of the room locks didn't work is the same person who ignored our request for clean sheets.
Ultimately we were very disappointed with the La Quinta Inn on Grove Ave. in Mesa and the utter indifference to the concerns we raised. There are several other hotels nearby and I recommend you choose one of them if comfort, service, and basic access to your room...
Read moreThis hotel clearly discriminates against big families. They make it obvious with fabricated complaints during our stay and ultimately told us not to return. Here’s why:
Room Issues Blamed on Us
The first room was marked “out of order” because the carpet “needed to be cleaned three times.” If the carpet required that much cleaning, that’s on the hotel, not us.
Another room had a complete electrical failure, forcing us to move.
The next room had no working air conditioner in Arizona heat again, somehow made to feel like it was our fault.
The final room had major flaws, including stained bedding they refused to change.
The Air Fryer Incident
Housekeeping reported we had an air fryer. We only used it briefly for my kids’ nuggets and toast hardly “cooking.” When management asked us to stop, we complied immediately. Despite this, the day manager kept bringing it up repeatedly, as if we were still doing it.
Complaints About Kids and Trash
The day manager even complained that maids “didn’t want to clean diapers out of the trash.” What were we supposed to do toss them in the hallway? Our diapers are always bagged and rolled up. The “open” so ones they claimed were ours belonged to another guest. Their attitude made it clear: they don’t want kids in their hotel. The irony is that the GM himself brings his kids to work.
Harassment by Staff
We repeatedly received random calls from the day manager with bizarre rants that had no real basis. We never caused trouble, never complained about their many issues, and yet we were treated as the problem.
The final straw came when the day manager called early in the morning saying we couldn’t check back in even though we had already paid. When we calmly raised this with the GM, instead of an apology, he yelled at us. We have video proof. Not once did we raise our voices.
We have stayed in the same area before at Days Inn and had similar problems with staff. Honestly, it seems like Mesa hotels have a pattern of hostility toward families. Our experience in Tempe has been...
