**Update to my update!!
Still have not heard anything from the Connor Group after about a month. Please read everything. It should tell the whole story. My wife Amy Tackettposted a review of Austin Springs and now we look through the reviews and find it is not there. It was posted for at least a week before it was taken down. I suspect the Connor Group reported the review and asked Google to take it down. Ever since we have left the apartments we have been treated like a number. No feedback, no response after I leave a message, nothing. All they said in their response was that the manager followed policy. In which SHE LIED. So please read the entire post.
*Update on my review.
The Connor Group left a phone number for me to call them back to provide additional feedback on my review and the person who and answered sent me to a voicemail. I left my phone number and explained the situation and have not received any phone call back.
First of all, they pay people to give good reviews of the apartments so just keep that in mind when you see all the good reviews. As for my experience, when I was job hunting, I had an offer from a company and my family needed to move. Austin Springs will NOT budge on the lease agreement which will not let you break it. So if you need to move for any reason at all, you are still responsible for the entire length of the lease. As for our deposits, we have 2 dogs and we paid pet depositsfor them. Tonia from the leasing office explicitly told us that we don’t need to worry about cleaning carpets because the pet deposit covers that. Anytime a resident has a dog, they automatically rip up the carpet. That is exactly what she told us. So when we moved out, we saw the final invoice and it had charges for carpet cleaning. When I asked about it, she said that another dog owner was moving in and they were going to clean it rather than replace it . She didn’t have any answer as to why we were being charged for cleaning except that they give you a cleaning checklist before you move out but we didn’t worry about carpet cleaning because we were EXPLICITLY told NOT to worry about the carpets since they tear them out after a dog owner has lived there. At this point she also referred to our pet deposits as “fees” not “deposits”. So if anyone from the leasing office tells you somethiing, BE SURE TO GET IT IN WRITING. Because it’s our word vs. theirs and she only verbally explained that the pet deposit covers the carpet. We didn’t get it in writing. Also, they do a terrible job of keeping the trash bin areas in a clean manner. Do NOT rent with these people, they just want you to pay your rent, shut up, move out, and keep your deposit. Horrible people that will do anything to squeeze every last cent out of you. One last note, they do a “walkthrough” of your apartment every year and it’s pretty much their way of saying, “we’re increasing your rent this year, and every year from now on” they say this and explain that the area is really booming, blah, blah but here’s the kicker. They say they want to stay competitive, but if you want to stay “competitive” then wouldn’t you keep your rent the same for good residents so that they won’t move? Doesn’t really make sense. Everyone here is all about giving you the run around to make it seem like your at fault or you didn’t understand when you signed the papers.
Response to the owners response:
No one seems to care that Tonia told us not to clean the carpets. The only concern seems to be the piece of paper that says the carpets need to be cleaned. Let me put it to you this way, if someone asks if an upgrade will be made to the apartment during their lease and the manager says “yes”, and you don’t receive said upgrade and you ask why and are then told “it wasn’t in your lease you have to pay extra for that” .....that’s similar to how me and my wife feel. We were TOLD something, but because we didn’t have it in writing we’re the ones out of...
Read moreI was asked to leave a Google review when we first moved in and never got around to it. Oddly enough, there is a review listed under my name (which is spelled wrong, might I add) that I did not leave.
I wrote this review several months ago and have been sitting on it in hopes that we would move out on good terms and get our deposit back. I wasn’t counting on it considering this company’s reputation, but I was hopeful.
My husband and I work contract assignments in the medical field. We looked at an apartment and I fell in love with how roomy and cozy it was. We were told that we couldn’t do a three month lease, but we could do a 4 month. We were told that they do lease takeovers if need be, in case I didn’t get a contract extension...I vividly remember this fact because I clarified that if someone was looking to rent a place and they had none available, they would be given the opportunity to take over our lease. I also asked what would happen when our lease ended...if we could do month to month. We were told they would re-evaluate when the time comes. Looking back, they just wanted us to sign the lease and couldn’t care less about what happened to our family.
Pretty much as soon as we moved in we were harassed every couple of weeks over whether or not we wanted to extend our lease. My husband explained over and over that we do contract work and can’t commit to a place without knowing that one of us will have a job in the area.
I got a contract extension so we needed to rent our apartment for an additional two months, but they wanted us to sign a longer lease than we needed. My husband told the office staff that we are interested in a lease takeover, but we were told that “they don’t do that”
We didn’t want to have to move. We have a toddler, and in spite of our atypical lifestyle with our job situation, we wanted as much stability as possible for her. They are constantly advertising availability, so it seems odd that they didn’t want to work with us and have tenants for two more months. I would even understand having to pay a higher rate for being allowed to do month to month or three month leases.
Here are my other complaints-
-The carpet was filthy when we moved in. We cleaned it, yet our socks stayed filthy. A leak in one of the windows while we were gone for a few days caused an area of the carpet to get completely soaked and soured. Maintenance came and cleaned the carpet throughout the apartment, which helped some, but it still never was completely clean. UPON MOVING OUT WE WERE CHARGED $75 PER ROOM for the nasty carpet to be cleaned. You would think that carpeted places are automatically cleaned between tenants and that this would not be a reason to hold someone’s deposit, but I shouldn’t be surprised. -The bathrooms were extremely dirty when we moved in as well. It did not seem like the place had been adequately cleaned after the previous tenants moved out. -They were attempting to raise our rent had we been allowed to stay. They take advantage of tenants after the initial lease period. Other reviews speak of this as well. -The bedrooms are very dark. There is no overhead lighting -Utilities are really high here. The windows are drafty. The trash fees are ridiculous. -We were charged monthly an additional “common electric fee”, presumably for things such as the outside lights that either don’t work at all or constantly flicker.
The funny ending to this story...my husband and I have decided to stay in the area and have rented a gorgeous, roomy, literally brand new apartment in a close by town that averages out to be cheaper per year than this place. We are the first tenants in our apartment. Shop around and consider the bad reviews. If we had been treated better, we may have ended up staying at Austin Springs for years to come. Thank goodness things worked out the way...
Read moreWe have lived here for over a year now and we hate it. the buildings are falling apart, there are leaks from other apartments and through the roof. the word luxury needs to be removed from the name, everything is put together with the cheapest materials or has been put together wrong. our hot water has been put in the opposite way around ( hot is cold, cold is hot). our AC doesn't get all the rooms to the same temp. our fridge leaks, all our kitchen cabinet doors and draws were chewed and chipped when we moved in and the office told us that when we moved in they would get them replaced, once we moved in we were told that they don't have any more so there is nothing that can be done.
most people that live here own dogs, we are dog people too, but nobody picks up their dogs poop even though there are bags on the grounds. there is dog poop all over the place. nothing is done to stop people that don't pick it up, so no one cares.
the roads needed paving so they got the cheapest company known to man in to do the work. they have done a poor job! they didn't clean up there is chunks of asphalt over the paths and on the garage doors. the paving isnt flat where it wasn't levelled correctly, nor did they lay it evenly so its thinner in parts. I don't know what they must think of the people that live here as they have now installed 3 of the most awkward and high speed bumps as you drive in. one of our friends couldn't get their sports car over them without nearly ripping the front end of their car off.
when we moved in, the fountains in the small lakes were lit, as each one stopped working they have never been fixed. there are hardly no lights around the paths so taking your dog for a walk at night is in total darkness.
they must be super desperate to get anyone to move in as they have someone dressed up as micky mouse outside on the main road with a sign trying to get people to come and look. what the hell has micky mouse got to do with "luxury apartments"? this is totally tacky.
there is not enough parking for everyone that lives here. if you have a garage and park your second vehicle outside of your garage it will be towed away. if you park not in a space (as there is nowhere else for you to park) you will be towed. this is ridiculous when you are paying to live somewhere and you cant park anywhere near where you live or at all.
they have decided to paint the buildings. this would be great if they painted the buildings the same or in a nice color. but they haven't! they have picked colors that now make the buildings look like a Crayola box! as you drive in, it now feels like you are living on a section 8 housing estate!
we cannot wait for our lease to be up so we can move out of this dump! it is totally over priced for what you get. after speaking to our neighbors they all are saying the same thing.
if you do decide you want to live in this place then make sure you get things in writing from the office as they will lie to you and not follow through with the things they...
