I played in the prerelease there and had a really pleasant experience, it was my first time since the pandemic playing paper Magic and the store felt alive. There was a lot of great energy in there. Atmosphere was an A.
So when I returned, I was interested in buying singles & product. I was told that I wasn't allowed to buy a collector box because it was needed as prize support, so while I understand that; why have it even up there as something that is available or just note restrictions. It was genuinely an awkward moment. I was actually given a price of 400 which I said OK to. I was fine paying a 10-15 dollar premium to support the LGS as a location to play Magic. Being told no, after being quoted a price made the situation very awkward.
When I inquired about singles, everything went to TCG mid without any prices listed, which I understand; but when there are other sellers offering that card on TCG below Mid price (There were 7 at time at around the 56 mark for LP/NM condition), to be quoted a price that was $10 higher because you skipped over verified sellers and went directly to market place instead of seeing what the market actually looked like felt lazy and to a certain extent, dishonest. If you'd like to base prices off the market place where you would sell that card, you're asking the consumer to pay the price difference of what you'd lose % wise from fees. You're also asking me to go to TCG and see that sellers are selling cards in similar shape for lower prices, at that point I'm going to go with what TCG verified sellers are asking for the card.
I was also interested in a box of Jumpstart, but at the price point of $170, again I had to go to TCG and see they were listed at 100-110. I would have been willing to pay 120-125 to help out the store, but the price of $170 made me double take and cringe. I wouldn't even bother countering or offering when prices are priced out that high.
My overall experience was less of a card shop and more of flee...
Read moreNot for the casual customer or player. I went there to get some dice and cards for a friend, but it was unfortunately during some form of event/tournament. It was packed with people and had a not so pleasant odor. I stood by the front counter where the register is for 10+ minutes waiting for assistance. There was no way to tell who worked there since no one was manning the register. I saw no one with a store branded shirt, badge or name tag. I was passed up more than once by someone I’m assuming worked there since they were running the event there, but was never approached or even given a glance. Once the front emptied out it was just me and a man that had been sitting about 5 feet away from me chatting with other people the whole time. He finally looked up and greeted me, so I asked if anyone was working the counter, only to realize that it was him that should have been working the counter. Their inventory is also clearly not organized as he had to look up an item I was purchasing, and didn’t even know how much it cost even though the item had a bar code on it. The only reason it’s not a 1 is because when I finally got some help, his customer service was not bad. Would not go...
Read moreI really want to like this store but have had issues both times I've tried selling to them. The first time I brought in some assembled and painted WH40K models to sell for cash, around 100 dollars or so. Spoke with the person running the counter and was told they were interested in buying them but the person who carries the cash had left for the day and to come back in a day or two to sell for cash. Upon returning as requested I was told they no longer buy models for cash, only credit. This would have been no issue if I had not been told they would buy them for cash. The second time I was looking to offload some Yugioh singles and was pointed towards the Owner or an employee, unsure. I reached out to him through messenger and was told they were interested in buying them and he would get back to me with totals for the cards. He did not message me back for two days until I messaged him back and was told they are no longer interested. As I said the first time this would not have been an issue if I had not been told they would be purchased beforehand. This could just be a rare event but it is pretty frustrating. I still support the business so I left more...
