I had hip replacement surgery about 11 years ago and knee surgery on the same leg last year and my surgeon(s) had always recommended going to yoga to help alleviate some of the pain and tightness that comes along with the recovery process. I was always hesitant to start because I donāt like not knowing what Iām doing when I start something new and felt I would embarrass myself. After some convincing from my girlfriend, I finally decided to give it a try. It was quite hard and painful at 1st but since my goal was obviously more flexibility I wanted to see it through and not quit. Im happy to say I just completed my 5th class and with the help of Stephanie Gregory and her Basics class, Iām now starting to see results as Iām noticeably more flexible and some of my pain has been alleviated. She is a great teacher who took her time to explain everything to me before I even began which put my mind at ease. She is patient and caring and wants you to enjoy the experience. She explained what I should do and what I should avoid as to not injure myself anymore than I already have. I know this will be an ongoing process but Iām looking forward to the challenge and my next class. And with Stephanieās continued guidance Iām confident I will see the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve taken a few yoga classes at Bhakti Barn, and every one of them was excellent. I most recently took the Spirited Flow/Open Vinyasa class. This was a relatively fast paced class for work with challenging poses and variations. It definitely got into the movement and flow a lot faster than many classes, which may not be a great thing if youāre starting with stiff muscles, but since it was a 6 PM class I was coming to directly from work, it was perfectly paced for the timing. It was also a pleasant surprise to have a class that actually took Shavasana seriously enough to give it a full 10+ minutes at the end of class, which was perfect for an end of the workday class. Stephanie Gregory, the teacher, pushed the class but was light hearted in her method and never made you feel unaccomplished. Overall it was a very positive experience and I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm a relative beginner, as I practiced hatha yoga in my 20's, and am just beginning a new practice 40 years later. I had concerns that it would be too difficult, etc., but, happily, I was able to ease right into the gentle yoga and restorative yoga. The instructors are welcoming and the classes are a perfect first step into a practice that hopefully will continue throughout my life. The highly skilled instructors bring a bounty of knowledge, and is attuned to each student's needs. I also have found that the meditation classes are grounding and healing. I plan to introduce myself to "Bhakti Basics" in the next couple of months. The varied levels and styles of yoga offered, the meditation classes, the special series, as well as the glowing spaces they have created, make Bhakti Barn the...
