Miu Miu Nail Spa — Local services in Millburn

I had the WORST NAIL SALON EXPERIENCE at Miu Miu Nail Spa. I saw the rave reviews and booked an appointment. Here's how things went from bad to worse:

When I went to sit down, nail tools were already sitting in a basket, opened, at her station. I asked if the tools had been sanitized, and she rudely responded that they had been. I was skeptical because the nail clipper was rusting. I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN UP AND LEFT THEN. The nail tech started shaping my nails and pushing/cutting my cuticles. She did not soak my nails prior to that. When I asked why she didn't, she responded that they "don't do that for gel manicures." I have gotten countless gel manis and my nails and cuticles have always been soaked prior to shaping and cutting of cuticles. I told the nail tech to be gentle with my cuticles because they are sensitive. She then asked if I was sure I wanted my cuticles cut. Why else would I get a gel mani if it weren't for cleaning my cuticles and shaping my nails to perfection? When I said yes, she began TUGGING at my cuticles, pulling the skin so aggressively. I asked her to be more gentle, and she was somewhat more gentle, but the damage was already done. My cuticles started bleeding immediately. When she finished shaping my nails, I took a look and noticed it was very poorly done. My nails were uneven and there was so much skin on the sides of my nails that needed attention. I showed her that, and rolled her eyes at me. At that point, I told her that I'd like to have another nail tech do my nails and that I wanted to speak to the manager. SHE RESPONDED THAT SHE IS THE MANAGER, AND STARTED SPEAKING IN HER LANGUAGE TO THE OTHER NAIL TECHS. I told her that I was not happy with the job she did and how she treated me. Her response was "I am sorry if you feel that way." At that point, I got up, grabbed my purse, and walked out.

I can't believe the level of DISRESPECT AND LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE at this business. Do yourselves a favor and go...

I am appalled by how I was treated by Miu Miu Nail Spa in Millburn today on Mother’s Day. When I first arrived I started with a technician who seemed pretty inexperienced, and I was not happy with how the service was going. Not to be graphic, but my foot didn’t look like I had a pedicure when he was done. I calmly communicated that I wasn’t happy with the service and would like to switch technicians. They gave me the option to not pay and leave, and I expressed that since I was here, I’d like to get the service done. My new technician cut my cuticle and it bled, and when I pointed out that I had been cut, she said very dismissively, “I see it.” When she was done, she asked if I was happy with it, and I said “yes.” After patting my feet dry, the technician refused to complete my pedicure or manicure because she said “she didn’t think I would like it.” When I clarified that she was in fact refusing me service she continued to repeat that because it is a holiday (Mother’s Day) she did not want to discuss and upset other customers. Her reason included that I was touching my feet as she went to get the rest of her supplies and that I had previously switched technicians. As a black woman, I always have to wonder what’s behind a dismissal like this one, especially when it simply doesn’t compute. It’s a shame that I even have to wonder. I’ve been to this nail salon a few times but this last time just disappointed me completely. I went in for a pedicure manicure end the nail tech I got was not into the job at all. And I understand someone can have a bad day or even week but but this was beyond that. When she filed my nails she was filing the skin, the massage was painful and I now have bruises. The salon has VERY MINIMAL polis choices, they are not willing to do nail designs that are i style nowadays. The manicure was equally as bad - filed my skin instead for the nails, scraped the gel nailpolish off instead of my nail, did not shape the nails well - had to get the owner to fix it, I had to tell her I was going to was my hands she didn’t offer. Her nails did not seem clean themselves which had me scared. Just so many things. Waste of $.
