We booked Ira for my daughter's bat mitzvah bc I hate stuffy, formal, forced photos for big occasions. I wanted to find someone who would capture fun and emotion - I poured over tons of the "go to" photographers photos in their web sites and social media - and I kept being drawn to Ira Casel and his unbelievable candids. Sure he did the portraits and the pre mitzvah shoots beautifully too - but they were unique and we could feel the love in the photos. I reached out to him and we had a wonderful conversation about what I was looking for and what I wasn't looking for. He is a pleasure to work with and extremely responsive. My daughter isn't the biggest fan of flashbulbs in her face all the time and he assured me he'd get what he needed without being obtrusive etc. We did a pre mitzvah shoot and I could tell my daughter was immediately comfortable with him and knew we'd be set up well for the actual big day. The pre mitzvah shoot photos were gorgeous. Exactly what we wanted. He was so easy going and kind to her.

While I haven't received everything yet from the recent bat mitzvah - the photos I've seen so far have all blown us away. They captured exactly what we had hoped for - genuine emotion, love and joy! He captures moments. Considering I was the host of the event and didn't get to see everything going on I am especially grateful to see all the moments. On event day Ira was so easy going and flexible for us to get all our posed shots, family shots etc - he was so kind to all of our guests and they enjoyed having him there. He also photographed our service and I didn't even realize he was there bc he was very low key and not in anyone's face. Something super important to me. His work is beautiful and the photos are warm and intimate and everything you'd hope for. Ira also worked very easily with the rest of our vendors - always makes for an easier day for all. Ira Casel is awesome. He creates photographs that are not only fun but technically perfect. His mastery of lighting shows in his portrait level execution. His nuanced experience n the temple shows which our Rabi and Canter truly appreciated. He traveled up to Croton-on-Hudson to take pictures at Temple Israel and a couple of days later met us at Hotel Castle and Spa which was in Tarrytown. His easy-going nature creates a relaxed atmosphere. Connected to the emotional moment he was able to capture incredible shots of my daughter and family! I have an art background and am a photographer myself, so choosing the right photographer was one of the most important things for me. I see so many photographers who have big cameras and yet are amateur. With so much money at stake I needed to know that the pictures were going to handled by a professional. I’m so glad...

Ira's pictures are pure art. The pictures he has shared of our daughter's bat mitzvah were simply breathtaking and I can pay no higher compliment. Booking Ira was the first thing I did 3 years ago when we got our date and it was my best decision. He "got" her immediately, realizing she wasn't an instagram ready "ham it up for the camera" kind of kid and was able to capture her personality organically and beautifully. Ira was flexible with us given that our daughter's original Bat Mitzvah had to be rescheduled due to COVID, and then broken down into 2 parts (a ceremony and a forthcoming party).
