We have entrusted Dempsey and Baxter with a couple pieces of family heirloom jewelry over the last three years. The first of which was a diamond ring that we wanted to remove the diamond and put it into another vintage setting. Out of their vault Jack produced a vintage art deco setting that was absolutely amazing! We had been looking for sometime locally and via the internet and had found NOTHING like this piece. They then professionally handled moving the diamond over to the new setting and making the needed alterations. This ring became my wife's wedding ring and it is truly a beautiful piece.
Most recently we again came into the store looking to repair a bracelet that has been in the family since around 1900. It required not just repair but the replacement of a couple of gems. These gems in the needed cut and size were not readily available. Jack, along with Jessica sat down with me and discussed the repairs and options to source the gems. They searched in house and then searched other vendors of vintage stones in order to track down what we needed. Jack completed the needed repairs beautifully and the turnaround time was fast considering all that needed to be found and done. My wife can now for the first time in her life wear her grandmother's bracelet and it looks stunning!
During all of this Jessica called and kept me up to date on the search and progress, while Jack was great at taking the time to explain all that needed done and ultimately completing the repairs. In a world where so many businesses no longer take pride in their work, Dempsey and Baxter stand out from the crowd. They have EARNED our family's trust and we will continue to take our business there and recommend...
Read moreI took several items to sell and the one that stands out the most was a ring the woman tried to buy it for 100 it's worth 550 and sell your gold online offered me 454 so I think it's fair to say that they do indeed try to take advantage of people that don't know what they have. There were several pieces of sterling including a Tiffany clip and an Italian horn that were worth at least 100 each and I had a few other things that she weighed All together and gave me 39.85 for I didn't sell the rings I took and the only reason I sold what I did was to be courteous for the time she spent going through my items. Emily was nice but I don't think it was genuine however the reason I gave a two was because there was a nice man who spoke to me and showed me a really old penny he just purchased while I waited for her to check a couple things. She wrote out a detailed list of everything but didn't write the weight of any of the things so I can't show that but I know I did not get fair price I was the Bigger person sold the things I didn't really care about just so she didn't waste all her time I just wanted to share with everyone that if you don't know what you have do not take it here they have 4.8 stars probably half are people they know personally and why only179 reviews if you have been in business for 60 years I would think there would be a lot more reviews. I definitely will not be going back here to sell any of my stuff I'll stick to sellyourgold online they are extremely fair and it's legit I have sold a few things and they give the best...
Read moreIn response to your response, if you'd like, I can post all of the emails I have sent along with the 2 responses I've received.. instead of mentioning your lack of response to my email requesting if anyone was available the next day and saying perhaps "we' should be more on top of emails, you've chosen the other route. Not too worry..I will never do business with your establishment again.
Ater hearing many good things regarding this place, I decided to take an early 1900's Buffalo nickel i had to see if they were able to read the date that was on it, as my microscope couldn't quite tell. The man took a quick glance at it and said it wasn't even worth it nor was it worth anything. I realized that. That wasn't the point. I had no desire to sell it but rather, for my own personal knowledge, it had been in my family for decades and was just curious. I asked again. Nope! "Not worth it". I got the feeling that unless you had something valuable, you were sent to the back of the line and that "We'll get to you when we can". Thats okay. I have many more coins just as old and in near mint condition. You only get one chance to make a good impression and because of this, I will never go back whether it be to sell or buy.
Emailed this place asking to have my coins looked at. About 300 of them. 1 person replied and that was over a day ago. DONT WASTE...
