S&S Super Buffet — Restaurant in Summit Township

This place used to be the best Chinese buffet in town. It however is no longer any good. I took my family to eat and we all got our food and as we are eating everything we tried was GROSS. I am a chef who has been working for 20 years in the restaurant industry. I love Chinese food but this was my worst experience by far. I tried to speak with the manager about the food and the quality and she said that because we already started eating that there was nothing that could be done about our bill because we had already taken more than one plate. I informed her that all the things we took we only ate half because it wasn't very good and that we don't waste what we take. I walked her around the buffet line to tell her what we ate, I told her the mushrooms she was serving were rotten and that the food was dried out the manager said that I was wrong and no one else complained. I told her I was unwilling to pay full price for a meal that left us feeling grossed out and still hungry. The bill totalled $53 for my wife, myself and two kids which I wouldn't have minded paying if we had gotten a good meal, but we barely ate. I said that I wasn't going to pay if she wouldn't listen to what I was trying to explain said she would call the police if I refused to pay. I told her to take half off and we would leave, she wanted my ID so that I would be banned from the restaurant for complaining. I told her banning me was unnecessary because the quality had dimmished so poorly we wouldn't be back. I don't like complaining at restaurants because I know what it's like to work at them. Don't waste your money in this establishment you will not enjoy the food and won't be treated with respect. I'm a family man and I was threatened that the police were going to be called because I was complaining about the meal. That is...

Disgusted with the ethics of this restaurant. We sat down with a party of 12 people total, we all ate but had no one refill drinks or do anything after the initial seating. Here comes the fun part, when the check came the waitress REFUSED to give us the bill insisting on just taking our credit cards and cash. Being the only one in the group that did not mind taking my bill out of her hand, which she then took back forcefully, I noticed they had added a 10% charge which is understandable because of our party size but they tried to hid it from ALL OF US. After our cards came back we noticed the only receipt given was no longer itemized and the one in our party with cash did not even get one!!!!

I went to the manager because of the clear issue here and because of a language barrier or playing ignorant I was just told they gave us the bill already. After trying to explain and letting her know that we were fine with the charge but not fine with being tricked she offered to give us an itemized copy but only after telling me I was wrong over and over.

Absolutely not ok by and standards and disgusting that they hid this from ALL their customers based on the receipts the manager was using as examples.

THIS PLACE SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR BILL AND CREDIT CARDS!!!!

Food wasn't fresh but I think our biggest problem was the waitress, or lack thereof. I will note it was not that crowded on a sunday evening. Our waitress did NOT show back up to our table for over 25 mins. We each had empty drinks and my husband even gave them a little bit more time saying he'd give them until he ate some of his second plate before he got our drinks himself. Well, he finished and they still didn't show up, they've been to the tables to the right of us at least 3x but ignored our side. My husband got up and went to the host and explained and the host let him refill our drinks completely understanding. While he was getting our drinks the waitress FINALLY showed up to grab dirty plates but even though I didnt have cups in front of me didnt ask if I wanted something drink, just grabbed the plates and left. When my husband explained to the cashier what happened she asked the waitress if that was true but the waitress lied and said we were still drinking, um, you didnt even show up UNTIL my husband was already refilling our drinks! I couldnt believe she LIED and then walked away. I think we will stick with another Chinese buffet...
