The Strength Box Gym — Local services in Minneapolis

I attended for Strength Box for 3 months. Some of the positive experiences I had about this gym was based more so on the fact that it is 3 blocks from my apartment and usually has less than 5 members at a time inside. The first time I toured the facility and met Erik I was charmed by the place; it has plenty of space to accommodate quite a few people. Towards the end of the tour, we discussed pricing which was $60 and I told him I am going to be bringing my spouse in on their day off to do a tour as well before we decide. Erik then told me that they had a family deal dropping the price to $50per. I thought this was great even though coming from Denver, CO where every major gym’s membership is $30 max was still a little high for us. 4 days later I bring my husband in to do the same tour, and right when we get to the end Erik tells us that the dual membership is no longer a thing and the price is now $75 per person even though it still says 60 on the website, reluctantly we still went along with it. During our time there we realized that the equipment is pretty outdated even though everyone in these comments says otherwise, a couple of the machines need some serious maintenance like loose belts and fasteners. As far as cleanliness it seems that the floor is at least swept even though every time we went in it triggered our dust allergies, another thing is that idk if it is their cleaning spray but almost every surface seemed sticky. I love this gym. Depending on what time of day you go, it can be a few people in there or it can be just you by yourself. It has almost everything. The only thing I'd suggest is adding a stairmaster for women and anyone training to do a firefighter test, as the stairmaster is a key component to training for that test. You won't get a locker room here but that's not a deal breaker for most serious gym rats and this place is for gym rats and anyone looking to do some good, quality solid training with all the stuff you need for strength training and reaching your goals with a focused type of environment. Come in here with your gym bag and store it in a cubby and get your gym on! Highly recommend. I think I pay about 70 a month here and they are only closed from midnight to 6, I believe. This was by far the best gym membership experience I’ve ever had. It was the perfect size, very functional and all the members were so welcoming and kind. Might I also mention never too crowded at all. The gym was always in great shape and I never had any membership issues. The owner, Erik, is super communicative and responsive, as well as very professional. I am leaving the gym as I found something a little closer to my residence.
