As advertised, why is this the only B&B in Minneapolis? Well it isn't!! No breakfast is served--you get meal vouchers for a diner that is not a walkable distance and with terrible parking. There is a Keurig coffeepot available on the premises in a kitchen. This is a beautiful historical home that needs some TLC--tiny ineffective window units, ceiling fans that either don't work or are dangling precariously from the ceiling, random furnishings, few/no/non-functional smoke alarms (were they CO alarms as well???), bathroom vents totally clogged with dust, I'll stop there. I felt that the space is barely getting by financially. Will say that my bed was incredibly comfortable. You will get a good night's sleep IF there are no painters with hydraulic lifts, garbage men, or chainsawing activities going on. I witnessed a housekeeper spending an extraordinary amount of time cleaning one room--the cleanliness is impressive. The parking....4 dedicated parking spaces for the entire property and otherwise you are fighting for limited street parking. Pay the parking fee and get a dedicated space. You are surrounded by sketchy neighborhoods but within a short, safe daytime walk to the Walker Art Center--you'll need a car unless you like Übers to get groceries, go to restaurants, party, or shop. The staff...not the friendliest, strange and almost creepy and definitely snooty--but in an affected manner. Info is difficult to get--check-out time, wifi password, etc. Nevertheless, it was less expensive than downtown hotels, and travel time to art venues and craft stores, and even UMinn & MSP airport was short. Great porch to sit on (in the summer). If you like privacy, you're definitely left alone. It worked for me, though quirky--most travelers would like the charm.

300 Clifton is easily my favorite staycation spot in Minneapolis. I instantly grew obsessed with the work the team put in to making this bed and breakfast a splendid stay while also respecting the history and charm of this historic Loring Park mansion. I came to celebrate my fiancé and I’s new engagement, and what better way to do that then by supporting a local queer bed and breakfast. The couple who owns this place should be proud of the work they do as stewards of Minneapolis’ history. And the community collaborations they have with other queer businesses, like their breakfast voucher program with the Nicollet Diner, is iconic! Also! Gabby — the employee who checked us in — gave my partner and I a tour of the grounds at check in and literally made us feel like royalty throughout our stay — she’s the best! We hope to see her again the next time we’re here. The owners made a great choice hiring her! We hope to return next year with some of our wedding party to rent the carriage house for a few nights! If you’re debating staying here — DO IT! I work for the Hospitality trade association of the state, Hospitality Minnesota, and we work to help hospitality businesses like 300 Clifton succeed and prosper for years to come. The next time I walk into the office, my stay at the 300 Clifton will be yet another example of how important it is to support our local hospitality industry — they deserve all our support, and businesses like them make me proud of the work I do.

Update: absolutely cannot recommend. They double charged the resort fee after the fact, and when I emailed to address it, they responded saying that they “don’t negotiate fees after a booking” and I should have addressed that prior to check in. It’s only slightly impossible to address anything with them if I can’t get any response from management. Very disappointing, subpar behavior. Would never come back after this. Their lack of communication is not my responsibility. I ended up having to dispute with my credit card company because they became unresponsive and ignored my email.

Stayed here for 4 nights, Tuesday-Friday. The mansion is beautiful and the grounds are very nice. The location is great and you can get anywhere in the city easily using the bus system.

As with anything, you get what you pay for. It was a puzzling experience.

First off, the rooms were incredibly cute but both beds in the two different rooms I stayed in were very uncomfortable older than dirt spring mattresses. No one is going to care how vintage the rug is if they can't sleep because the bed is so uncomfortable. There was also a handful of long dark brown hairs in the sheets in the first bed upon arriving - I have blonde hair.

Their staff is non-existent and management could use a major reorganizing. Some of the days, they had a young girl manning the desk during their ONLY staffed hours of 3pm-7pm (outside of that, there is literally no one) who didn't know how to do anything/didn't have access to the computer so while she was perfectly kind, her being the one at the desk defeats the purpose. My reservation was initially Tuesday-Thursday and I wanted to add on another day in a different room for the last night since the room I was in during the week was not available Friday night. I had to text and follow up multiple times with management, in order to get it taken care of - it took until 8:30pm the night before checkout to finally get a confirmation of my request and I was left hanging for the entirety of the day wondering if I was going to have a hotel room for the following day. Very stressful. I was never given check out instructions, nor even told what time check out was, and was left guessing. My texts asking check-out time and process were left unanswered/ignored.

I found it adequate for the weekday price but it's definitely not worth it for their weekend price. Also, they charge an additional $25-30 PER NIGHT for an additional person so would not consider coming back here with a friend/partner. Their bad diner coffee and dollar store pastry amenities certainly do not warrant that kind of...

Upon arrival, we were impressed with the beauty of this historical house, which instead ended up becoming a house of horrors. We were led to our room in the carriage house which was a shabby and very small, with windows that were filthy. As is my habit, I stripped the bed to inspect for signs of bed bugs. We found several flakes of what appeared to be molted skin and shell. We immediately notified our hosts and they moved us to the third floor of the main house. The room was hot. There was no air conditioning or climate control. After a thorough check of the bed we decided to stay and make the best of it. Sleep was uncomfortable due to the heat, there was no tv in the room, no cups for brushing teeth, no full length mirror for getting ready, no toiletries such as kleenex or bar soap, and no extra towels. No breakfast at this bed and breakfast. We were given one bath towel, hand towel and washcloth each for the stay. The second night we returned from a long day of shopping to find our room untouched. No making the bed, no new towels, and no reply to our supposedly 24 hour text line for assistance. In fact it wasn’t until we went in search of towels ourselves that we were shocked and horrified to come face to face with a bat flying around the upstairs. We screamed and ran back to our room at which point we had to decide what to do since our text request for towels was ignored. We proceeded to call the text only number and were informed that they “took care of the bat”. I can’t imagine a bat was caught that quickly and not to mention we were not even checked on when we screamed! If they knew to come up and catch a bat then they certainly heard us scream. But instead they silently removed a bat and left us scared in our room? Very strange. Regardless we were done. Enough! We were told they could not refund the stay due to booking through a third party site. Even if that’s the case, it would be good business practice to offer some form of reimbursement such as setting us up with lodging elsewhere as we were two moms ten hours away from home leaving at midnight (we ended up sleeping in our car at a rest area). Instead we got a shrug of the shoulders and a half hearted and rude “apology” as if we were such a huge inconvenience. I absolutely do not recommend this...

The property at 300 Clifton is undeniably beautiful, but my experience left much to be desired. I initially reached out in September 2022 to inquire about using a room for my bridal party's hair and makeup on my wedding day in August 2023. Over multiple attempts to contact them, I received no response to my emails and voicemails, although I was occasionally able to get someone to answer the phone.

Despite these red flags, I booked a room online in February 2023, but didn't receive an email confirmation. The next day, I called and spoke to one of the owners. We talked about what I wanted to do, and he asked me several questions-- would I be having a photographer in the room while we got ready? (No) Would we be using any public spaces of the house? (No) He said my usage would be fine, and sent the email confirmation of our reservation.

In July 2023, I called again just to confirm details. No one answered, so I left another voicemail that never got a call back. I assumed all was well.

However, when I checked in on August 11, I discovered they had a policy banning anyone not on the reservation from the property. Even a bridesmaid who had come along to help me carry my dress was against the rules. They said we could "work it out on the fly" as long as I was willing to pay an additional $150/hour to have people on the property. This fee was not communicated earlier, and the owner claimed to have no memory of our previous conversation.

I've re-read the booking confirmation email, which does say "By making a reservation you are agreeing to the terms of our "Booking Policy". A full explanation of our Reservation terms are available on our website." However, I've searched the website and can't find the terms. It's unclear to me what other normal behaviors, like having a friend help you with your bags, might be outside their terms and conditions.

I was able to cancel and receive a partial refund, but the experience was needlessly stressful on the night before my wedding. If you plan to stay at 300 Clifton, it's fine for solo or couples, but for anything outside the ordinary, make sure to get all agreements in writing. The unclear policies and communication gaps made this an extremely...
