My family and I just checked out of this hotel yesterday morning. We were in town for our family reunion. I WILL NEVER STAY at this place again. The only reason I've giving 2 Stars, is because the ladies working on Thursday, July 24th after 3pm were so polite!!! Checking in was ok-- the crazy $250 hold was crazy. Second of all we checked in around 2pm-ish and got to our room, called down to the front desk a little after 3pm to ask for 2 extra big and small towels, pillows, sheets and blankets for the pull-out sofa, we didn't receive any service until after 7pm. After about an hour of waiting, I did go downstairs to the front desk to just grab them, thinking maybe they were just busy and I didn't mind just carrying them to back to my room. Got downstairs and the receptionist was very very nice and informed me that she could give me the towels, however, they do not have access to the pillows, blankets or sheets. I said, "oooookkkkk and I guess we'll wait." Mind you we can't use the sofa without beddings (I have small children with me). Next issue, EVERY FREAKING ICE MACHINE ON EVERY FLOOR DOES NOT WORK! My 5 yr old and I literally went to every floor...and nothing! Finally went back downstairs and asked, "Why are all the ice machines not working?" No reason given, but I was then told that there is a bar and they can give me ice. Ok cool, got my ice.
Parking is $30 for no apparent reason! We're from out of town so we don't the downtown situation. No parking security whatsoever. If you come late (which we did one night) with my 5 yr and infant and we had to park downstairs, get to the door using our room keys to buzz in and nothing! We call the front to ask her to buzz us in because the key card is not working. She asks us if we've checked in already. I respond, "Yes, we have our keys." She says, "Well the door isn't opening and there is no way to enter through the door and I can't do anything for you." and disconnects the intercom call" We walked the children up from the lower level garage and go to the front desk. While we're standing there the light skinned receptionist from Friday, July 25th that night tells me no managers work on the weekend. I tell her it's unsafe and ridiculous, the hotel charges $30 a night for parking and the amenities this hotel claim to have, yet guest are forfeiting them. She seemed so unbothered and her freaking attitude was TRASH!! oh yeah, that's also the night we found out that parking on the street is free during some days (oh and would you know, it was days WE were guest) and we only found that out because Ms. Attitude was assisting another guest while we waited for her to address the lower level garage door situation.
Moving on, let's talk room and room service! We were at this hotel for 4 days and 3 nights!! OUR ROOM WAS NEVER CLEANED!! NOT ONCE! We were taking out trash everyday, not one wipe down, not even a quick vacuum, we had to keep asking for towels or hell just getting it ourselves, no tissue re-fill, or hand soap re-fill smh. And no there were no door tags on the doors at the hotel either, so I'm not sure what system was being used to know if a room were cleaned or not, but our wasn't touched! Maybe they finally got to it after we checked out on Sunday morning, who knows! So that also means, the towels, sink, counters and tub was never cleaned either. Their plumbing was a problem, you'd flush the towel and everything you put in there would just go down and politely come back to see you, then it'll slowly go down and the water will refill slowly. The tub was like bathing in pool, my poor child thinking he can go swimming, but I had to do quick showers with everyone because it takes about 10 to 12 mins for all the water to go down the tub drain (and yes I timed it), so it was hard for me clean the tub because all the water and dirt just pools on the side again, smh.
You see how expensive their rates are, save your money and go elsewhere for the fraction of that and...
Read moreI don't normally write reviews, but I felt I needed to on this one. The hotel had several things that I was not happy with, considering the price I paid for this trip. When we arrived after driving 9 hours, we pulled into to parking garage and parked close to the door so we were close to the elevator to unload our bags. The door had a sign that said Sorry for the inconvenience, but please walk around the corner to the other door. We did that, we pushed the button to be buzzed in, no one ever answered, so I called the hotel from my phone, only to be told we would need to come to the front desk to check in. I said that is what I am trying to do. How do I get to the lobby if you won't let us in? She informed me that for their safety, I would need to walk up the parking garage ramp to check in. What about the safety of the guest? We were not the only ones who were told to do that. The girl at the front desk was not very friendly. I told her I was there for a convention and asked if she could tell me how to get to the convention center. She informed me she had no idea where that was. I would think that if you work the front desk of a hotel three blocks from the Minneapolis Convention Center, you should know how to tell your guests how to get there, and since the convention is a big one, you should be aware that the convention is going on in your town.| The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean for the most part, other than the mold on the wall between the tub and toilet and the silicone seal on the sink. The air conditioner did not work; it was on 60, and still it was hot in there, so we had to open the windows, and the housekeeper brought us a box fan. While talking to people at the convention that was staying at the same hotel, they all had to open the windows and get fans from downstairs. The TV in the living room area kept going in and out. I was informed via the website I booked with for the convention that I owed $823.00, along with incidental and parking fees. When I checked in, they held $1,230 and some change. I asked why because that was not what I was told per the convention host page. The young man I asked said it was because the incidental fee is $100 a night, and the parking is going to come off that at $30 a night. That is crazy to me that it is that high for incidentals and parking. Why do you charge a parking fee to your guests at all, but per day? We got to the room and had not eaten, so we went to the bar area, and she was not friendly at all. We ordered, and after we ate, and upon asking for the bill were told when we were going to pay with cash, they do not take cash. My mom said well, why wouldn't you tell a customer that before they eat she said I wouldn't want to tell someone that before they eat. My question was, why not? What if we weren't staying in the hotel and just came in to eat or have a drink, and I only had cash? We were also disappointed because, per the amenities, it says there is a pool on site, and there is not. I will pick a different hotel if ever...
Read moreProbably the worst stay I've had at a hotel. At over $200 for a two-person room, here's what I experienced in the one night I had to stay here.
The AC was completely broken, for the entire hotel and every room. This was not communicated to me when I booked or at any time after, and the hotel advertised having AC, so this was a straight up bait-and-switch. I asked the front desk if there were at least repairs underway, but all I could get out of them was they weren't planning to fix it this week.
There were no fans in the room to help counteract this. The front desk said they would look into sending one up... then I never heard from them again. Not sure if they straight up lied to me or gave it a try but simply didn't have any fans available, either way, seems like the minimum you could do is have something on hand to help mitigate the issue for guests.
The windows were barred so they could only open about an inch or two, making them a poor choice for venting the room. Even then, it was the middle of spring so not exactly cool outside.
But there were more issues beyond the temperature. The beds were uncomfortably hard, some of the worst I've slept on.
There was an ice machine on our floor, but it was broken.
There was no free wifi - you can make it free if you sign up for their rewards program, but if you don't want to they make you check a box that says you know there is no free wifi and you will be charged.
They serve breakfast but charge you $17 to get it, at least Holiday Inn offers you something with your room.
I'm very fortunate I was able to find another hotel in the area so I didn't have to stay a second night here. If I wasn't, I probably would have just looked into leaving the city immediately and working out the consequence with my bosses.
The one positive thing I can say about the room I stayed in is that it contained furniture, had walls, and was not infested with mold or pests. If you are thinking of booking a stay here, I'd advise you reconsider. There has to be some better option.
UPDATE: I received a reply to my initial review inviting me to call a number to discuss my experience and ways the hotel could improve (you may still be able to see it). I called the number in good faith to provide more info about the problems I experienced... but I was just transferred straight to what I think was indefinite hold! I sat in silence for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to pick up or take me off hold, without a single sign, before eventually I gave up.
If this is what their customer service was like to me I can't expect it will be much...
