Nestled within the Pinebrook Shopping Center, amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life, stands a beacon of literary delightâBooks-a-Million. This bookstore, a sanctuary for bibliophiles and casual readers alike, offers more than just a wide selection of books; it provides an experience that is both enriching and deeply personal.
During our recent visit, we encountered a rare and exceptional example of customer service, embodied by one of Books-a-Million's outstanding associates, Taylor. In a world where personalized service can often feel like a relic of the past, Taylor's dedication and genuine warmth were nothing short of remarkable. Our high school senior, on the hunt for a particular set of books, was met not just with assistance, but with enthusiasm and expertise. Taylor went above and beyond, guiding her, offering insightful recommendations, and ensuring that she left with exactly what she needed.
But what truly set Taylor apart was her ability to connect on a personal level. Her approachable demeanor and sincere interest in helping turned a simple transaction into a meaningful interaction. The bond they formed, a testament to Taylor's kindness and approachability, has extended beyond the walls of the bookstoreâthese two young women are now online friends, a connection forged in the shared love of literature.
The environment at Books-a-Million, already inviting, was made even more so by Taylor's presence. It is rare to find such a combination of professionalism and genuine care, and it is clear that this bookstore is more than just a place to purchase booksâit is a community hub, where the love of reading is nurtured and friendships are formed.
For those who value not just the written word but the experience of discovering it, Books-a-Million in Pinebrook Shopping Center is a destination worth visiting. Thanks to associates like Taylor, it is a place where service is delivered with a smile, and where a trip to the bookstore becomes a cherished memory. We look forward to our next visit, knowing that we will be welcomed not just as customers, but as part of a vibrant and...
Read moreUPDATE: I reached out to corporate customer service and spoke with Nakeva. She got some info from me and after several emails said that the local BAM would be reaching out within 24 hours. They did not. When I emailed Nakeva back she gracefully made an excuse that "the system had some issues," but they would reach out within 24 hours. This was on 08/18/2025. The local BAM STILL has not reached out.
I went in the store to find a book I needed quickly. I was asked to teach on a particular chapter of a particular book for a book study. I went in last Sunday, 08/03/2025. I went home and started reading the book and discovered that chapter of the book I was teaching from was missing pages. It skips from page 52 to page 55. I couldn't use the book, so I had to re-order it from Amazon. I went in to BAM today to return the book and they wouldn't take it back because I had tossed my receipt. Their system doesn't keep track of purchases like many other POS systems (ex: Target). The manager said their POS system was "old." They agreed to give me a gift card, but then decided they couldn't do that, because of the way the POS system works. So, I paid $21 (overpaid, because it's way cheaper on Amazon) for this book that is missing pages and they refused a return or exchange. They were nice, but that doesn't change the fact that this policy is as antiquated as their POS system. I would have dug through the trash for the receipt, but I threw it away at a place I was volunteering. Next time, I'll just wait for Amazon to deliver. It's way less hassle. They did keep asking me about having a "membership," which now just seems like a way for them to provide you with normal customer service at a cost.
It is also worth noting that the section of books that I was looking at was a hot mess. None of the books were in order and I had to scan each book to find the book I was looking for. The books weren't ordered by author or title. They were just thrown in wherever. The same author was in 5 different places throughout...
Read moreMy teen's favorite place from which to get a gift card. LOTS packed in here--books, gifts, games, albums (yes, vinyl), graphic tees, funky stuff, cards, decor. Tiny stuff to epic volumes. Brand merchandise, most book-related, some not. Marvel at all of the magazines in print. Magazine area is much too tight. Great store for littlest to elders. Love Alice merch. Friendly, helpful staff and clean, neat place. Except one bathroom was out of order, so it was unisex time. No thank you! Left at that point. Mall mgmt. should have a plumber fix--pronto! Shelves and stock are well-attended. Customers need to be quieter, but what are you gonna do? Need umbrellas for sidewalk patio tables, and to clean tables/chairs. The cafe eliminated their pastry and snack case, but looks like an expanded drink menu. Love to rescue books from the bargain carts out front (but they were missing the other day). Good shopping center to park, do errands, eat, and explore at...
