Before coming to Sunrise Senior Living, I had lived at two other assisted living facilities in the area which, while satisfactory, did not provide the medical care and emotional well-being of Sunrise.
As a longtime officer in the U.S. Army, with two tours in Vietnam, I can truly state that I have been more content and happy here at Sunrise than at any other time in my life.
The medical condition of every resident at Sunrise is a top priority for the staff. All medications are professionally ordered, sorted and administered with utmost care.
The food at Sunrise is consistently excellent, and snacks are readily available. The dining room rivals many of the finest restaurants which I have frequented in Carmel-by-the Sea. Sunrise offers numerous excursions to local shopping centers, so there is no need for me to ask family or friends to bring me a toothbrush or other necessities.
There are also many scenic trips by bus to Big Sur and Carmel and walking tours along the coastline. Other recreation includes Spanish language classes, ballroom dancing, board games, exercise instructions and birthday celebrations.
In addition, there are regular musical performances by local artists, nightly movies and religious services. None of the other two facilities where I lived provided such a wealth of activities. Because of these many opportunities my sense of well being and morale have significantly improved.
Any potential or new residents at Sunrise will be immediately welcomed, cared for, and made to feel at home. All the staff and caregivers are highly professional, and they are prepared to give each of us excellent...
Read moreIf I could give this memory care facility 0 stars, I would. Don't get me wrong, it is a very nice assisted living place with nice apartments and common areas. However, the memory care facility deserves 0 stars. My father who suffers from Alzheimer's entered the facility in early November. The staff at the memory care unit failed to give him his medications for 24 hours. After being without his meds, he had a psych episode and was taken to the hospital where he spent 3 weeks recovering from this experience. He is currently well taken care of in a residential care facility. The Ivy Park memory care unit is understaffed and lacks experienced caregivers. It recently changed ownership (July 2023) and the care is not on par with other facilities. Do your due diligence if you are considering Ivy Park for your loved ones suffering from dementia and don't be dazzled by nice facilities and good food. What patients with dementia need most is good experienced staff and Ivy Park...
Read moreI was here for 8 and a half months. The employees there seem to hate working here and there's a lot of turn over because of the way this place is being run. The main administrator of this location doesn't care about people or his workers. I've talked to a lot of the employees and got along well with them; most of the turnover was because they hated him. The employees are underpaid for everything they have to put up with and they're understaffed because of all the turnover. This guy spends most of his time going outside, smoking every hour with a female coworker. There needs to be a way employees can voice their concerns without retaliation, all the complaints I've heard were because they were afraid of retaliation. I hope something gets done about this, this kind of behavior for an administrator who's suppose to help people is unacceptable. Please do something about this; I'm...
