The small library here is very well-equipped and has a charming vintage atmosphere that suggests it hasn't been remodeled in a while. As a tourist, it was interesting to see how Western public libraries look. The children's section is also well-equipped with tiny chairs, little huts, and plenty of books. There are even quiet corners for parents with children, as well as printing stations, computer rooms, and plenty of seating. It's a comfortable space and there's a water dispenser and a restroom available.

The Monterey Library has a nice kid’s section with a few toys. The library itself is a bit tired and probably hasn’t been remodeled since the 1980’s but the staff is friendly and helpful. There is a preschool aged story time at 10:30am on Thursdays in the community room by the restrooms. The story time consists of songs, stories, and sometimes a small craft at the end. The parking lot is very small and often full but there is a second parking lot next door.

Uhhhhh how can I say that some workers know what they are talking about and some don’t. I went the other day to print some stuff and they were super helpful and let me print what I needed (in color) The next day I needed to print some more stuff and this lady said that they can’t print in color and I told her I was able to print yesterday in color and she just said they were not supposed to do that for me and told me she can’t help me print in color.

I was confused so I went to the printer area and it literally says if your printing in black and white it’s $.10 and if you print in color it’s $.25 this lady had no clue what she was talking about.

When you print it doesn’t give you to option the print in color so you have to email what you want to print to the library and they can print it for you and the lady didn’t let me email it to them.

How come a few days ago those workers were the most helpful and nice people ever and then the next day this lady doesn’t know what she’s talking about?

It made...

difficult to concentrate if you're there to study/do something quietly. if you go outside people think it's ok to be loud and listen to music

-there are high school kids that go there regularly and are loud and inconsiderate of other people working

-there are homeless people hanging out in there/sleeping

-there was once a yt guy in there being obnoxiously loud...laughing and walking around as if trying to intimidate someone. i don't know if he's a regular there

-there are not many outlets in the center of the study tables. you need to be there when there before someone wins the outlets next to the walls (upstairs)

-there are outlets in the downstairs tables, but if you don't want anyone else to sit with you, then bad luck

-the staff is friendly except the one with the puzzle tattoo. she looks like someone's forcing her to be there

-PGPL is much more safer and quiet if that's...

While I wish the county could put more into the library to modernize it, I absolutely love this library. So many memories as a kid and it’s been very helpful with my Master’s degree papers.

The computers, as others mentioned, are old. But they’re free and have internet. They do have a printing service, too, which is nice for taking in-line notes and not writing in books (mine or theirs). The librarians are always super nice and will work with you until they understand what you need.

I wish their quiet study room would reopen, but Covid messed that up so I’m not sure when...
