Oceanway Spa — Local services in Monterey

While on vacation near Monterey, CA. and after a few days of driving an uncomfortable rental car on twisty roads in Northern CA National Parks, and doing more hiking than I am used to, my back, neck, shoulders an leg muscles were wrecked - and I  was getting head aches.

Near my hotel was the Oceanway Spa.  I called and was able to get an appointment the same evening.

I  arrived to find a small but professional reception area and was greeted by JC. She led me to a very clean and comfortable room, and I  prepared for a 90-minute massage.

OMG, right off the bat, I got a great suprise. She did a quick pressure evaluation all over, and it was like she knew exactly what was needed in every spot. I don't like deep tissue or fingertip punches due to pain. She used just the right amount of pressure and lots of forearm strokes that I've only experienced with the best therapists I've had. I've been getting regular massages for 15 years.

When she was done, every stiff and sore muscle was completely relaxed. I couldn't believe it, and I left a generous tip.  Then I did something I've never done before. The next day, I made another appointment.

When I arrived, there was a mix-up, and JC was not available. I won't go into details, but I was impressed with management's willingness to work with the customer, and I was able to come back the next day for one more fantastic massage before heading home.

I googled massages near me today as it was a last minute decision being that my neck and shoulders were bothering me. Its also been extremely long since Ive had massage and figured it would relieve some stress.

I came across Oceanway. I called 30 mins before walking in and showed up earlier then I mentioned and JC took me in immediately.

Small cute office, dark private room, the massage was 60 mins, full body, and the best part..... It was only $70!

For the price, I probably had the best massage yet. She spent a little extra time on the areas which were swollen and tense. Didnt feel rushed at all. She took her time.

Needless to say, I think Ive found my go to spot!

This place was clean and smelled really good. The room was set to a warm cozy temperature, the sheets smelled cleaned and were comfortable. This was my first chinese/deep tissue massage. I had a lot tension and knots in my shoulders and upper back, the ladies that assisted my boyfriend and I were very good and they listened to us when we mentioned our needs. I wasn't aware of the pressure in chinese massage so I asked my masseuse to taper it back, my 30 minute massage was definitely worth it.

Side note: I usually tip 20% for most services. I wasn't sure if the masseuse was upset bc i gave them $10 tip for a $50 massage. I think that was the only awkward moment i had. Overall...
