I prefer to give zero stars. I took my FELV+ cat to this practice as a feline only practice should be more versed in FELV. We specifically adopted three cats with FELV as they are harder to adopt out. They deserve loving homes too instead of being euthanized. I was appalled at how we were treated, as if we were lepers. I remember walking to my car after the appointment and then walked back in as I forgot to ask a question. They already had our room taped off with like caution tape and they had like a big bucket and mop sitting out side and a big note on the door that made it seem like FELV is super contagious. Apparently the vets and staff here need to be more educated on FELV as it is not contagious unless animals are continuously grooming each other or biting hard as in feral male fighting. The older blonde vet saw my kitty and was pretty much like āyeah he has FELV so he should have respiratory issues ā as if that is a death sentence. Recent shows that these cats can surprisingly live long lives and of course some do not. But there is no guarantee on the lifespan of any cat even without a disease. They should be taken to the vet at the early signs of any illness, given a loving, stress-free home, and good quality food. What annoyed me as well is that the old blonde drives a hideous Mercedes convertible with a custom license plate. Sheās very proud of her stature. I doubt sheās doing any shelter work. She doesnāt seem like the type that is in this profession for the animals, but more for the money. And the other younger vet was walking around in high heels. Why would a vet prance around and high heels? Iād like to see her chase a runaway cat in the office. That would be comical. Lastly, they recommended some sort of immune support powder that is prescription-based. What a joke! The vet is just making money off of this, and there are no legit research studies that support this powder. This practice was recommended on the military family facebook group. I had high hopes, but yāall disappointed. Iāve been meaning to leave this review for a long time. I never went back to this practice and will never recommend anyone to it.
Enjoy your convertible in the rainy Monterey climate and hope you donāt get bunions from those...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDr. Marcus, Kim, Claudia, Nicole and all her staff are wonderful! They have treated our cats like their own. I appreciate that they can run so many tests in house and get results quickly. One of the things I like best is that Dr. Marcus takes time to educate us on a condition and on the options for treatment and possible outcomes. However, ultimately, she lets us decide the best course of action -- I never feel pressured. Regarding costs, I've done the homework and they are comparable to others in the area and one has to consider that an x-ray or diagnostic costs the same whether working on a human or animal; itās just that humans are often insulated by insurance. If money is a problem, be honest about it -- look into pet insurance and if you simply want to know costs up front, just ask -- the staff is very forthcoming. Most of all, I appreciate that Dr. Marcus has come to our home each time it has been time to say goodbye to one of our beloved kitties at the end of their long (18, 19 and 21 year olds) happy, and delightful spoiled lives. She has helped us to recognize the signs of their being ready to move on before they begin suffering. You want a vet that won't take advantage of your fragile emotions at this time and prescribe further treatment that makes them live a few days longer even as they may begin to suffer while your vet makes make a few extra dollars. Dr. Marcus can look at your cat and help you know when it's time to say when. (For that matter, our cats were experts at letting us know as well -- they face death so much more calmly than we do.) While I miss each of our babies so much, I feel so at good that they died in our home and in our arms so peacefully and with dignity. Purrfurably Cats helps you take great care of your cats from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDamnit! I have to find a new vet. So, I was notified that my elderly cat was due for her annual checkup. I phoned to make the appt and was asked if I would mind seeing a fill in vet or wait for an appt w/ Dr. Marcus. I said I wanted to wait for Dr. Marcus. So, they scheduled the appt. On the day of, I went into the office and was told that they phoned me an hour ago to cancel because the doctor was going to be in surgery for the rest of the day. I checked my phone and found that the call was made 32 minutes ago. I was already on the road and my phone doesn't ring when I'm driving. I also caught her lying about the time she phoned, not an hour ago...Then, their fill in doctor came through and told the receptionist that she just got a cat ready for surgery also. So, here I am, at the office for my scheduled appt and no one cares. I had to go back home, another 40 minute drive with a crying cat. I would be a fool to go back to that office after that treatment. My cat and I have been good to this office and I am beyond hurt to be treated like this to the point of never wanting to go back. Don't go here. You and your cat...
